Big tommies, snook, garfish and squid were caught from the jetty. Whiting are about from both Anxious and Waterloo Bay beaches. Whiting are patchy for the boaties but snook of mixed sizes are very prolific.

Salmon were around before the windy weather set in.

A few salmon along with the odd whiting and salmon trout were around before the wind blew up.

Pirtek Fishing Challenge Written by Administrator

Once again, Pirtek are hosting Australia’s biggest national fishing competition on Sunday, 11th April 2010. It is open to everyone – mums, dads, kids and grandparents!

Each year in Australia, close to 3,300 men die of prostate cancer and around 20,000 new cases are diagnosed in Australia every year. This is why Pirtek have partnered with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to increase awareness of prostate cancer in the community and also raise much needed funds.

Thanks guys, heaps of useful info there. Sounds like we'll have to drop past both campsites befoe we make our decision at the time.

Looking at going in a couple of weeks, so any pics would be cool chuck. Has anyone been recently? Hows the fishing?

Im not a big surf fisher, but have a light rig for flicking chromies and all the other usual plastics/hb gear for the lagoon. Im thinking it wouldn't be the peak time of year, but not too bad for the salmon?

Just thought I'd start off this interesting, to me anyway, thread

after a few questions asked about the biggest redfin caught in Aus.

This was what came up when I "Googled" "the biggest redfin in Australia"

Lots more on there to follow up on when I get time, interesting that the much touted English redfin is a big fish at i kg in weight!

You'd have to think that cos of the much warmer temperatures in Aus that our reddys would be way heavier than that. However, so far a 5 or 6 lb fish is a thumper. That's only 2 or 3 kgs!

Where are these 10 kg fish?

hes a very talented bloke, who has hand carved some stuff out of opal.
he gave me a brilliant american indian head , and a magnificent hand carved tree, with a to scale perfect shark attached...
the shark is carved out of opal..

Howdy Guys,

Just a couple of quick questions re; Browns Beach on YP, looking to go camping/fishing there during my rec leave soon.

1/ Is Browns Beach 2WD accesible? Not the beach itself, but the campground and carpark for acess to the beach.

2/ Is the camping ground there any good? I have a 7x4 on-road camper trailer that Id be looking to take. Does anyone have any pics of the campgrounds? Are they far from the beach itself?

3/ Does anyone know what the current camping & park entry fees are?

Cheers guys, I cant seem to find some of this info on the net. Hows everyones trips over there been lately?

There's heaps of info on the net for fly-tying.
Figure out what species you want to target, and do a search for Flies for that particular fish, and I'm sure you will find a step by step tutorial to tying some.
They list hook sizes, materials used, colours, and usually with pics through the process.

This site has helped me a lot with Saltwater ideas..

and they have a Species / Fly index

Also a gallery of fly pics..
