One of my mates was finally given the A OK to buy him self a nice boat but the part of the deal was that he'd have to bring home some fish. WELL..... he decided to buy a brand new Bar Crusher with all the mods thinkin the fish will come to him, WRONG.
Ive always talked bout boat fishing and all the succesfull trips Ive been on but they've always been over at Cowell with mates that have dads with 30yr of knowlege of their spots. Seeings that ive been in a boat and its my mates first time he decides to take me out. 5 outings later no fish.... at all! We have no spots or any knowlege on where to find fish. With the warmer weather just around the corner we're hoping to go for a few Snapper , when we find them, and a few Hammers. Can someone lead us in the right direction and lend a hand to some amatures!!!! There's only so few many times we come home empty handed with the Misses lookin after kids expecting a feed!!!! PLEASE HELP

If you want to catch some whiting the best tip i can give you is to use the sounder to find a bit of feature, have a berley pot "bouncing" on the bottom and only fish for 15 mins in any spot if you don't have a fish in the esky. You being the crew means its hard work for you shifting 15-20 times a day but it is the best way to find spots, once you stumble across a few fish save the spot on gps and make a diary entry. If you fish 25 times a year you will slowly build up portfolio of decent spots that hold fish(about 6 spots a year) on a regular basis.
Someone might give you a few spots but where is the achievement in that, summer coming up so pack in a couple of crab nets, the gar and squid gear and you will be having a seafood smorgasboard in no time.
cheers brenton

Hi Dmac

It is frustrating at first and unfortunately you have to work at it and build up some knowledge.
It's not just where but how - what time of year and what part of the tide.
Brenton is spot on.I have respect for the older members

Have a look here for some well known local marks..............
