I was going to the outer harbour northern break water later this week and I've read that there is a lot of sea life using it to feed and shelter on. It's a long walk on the rocks(45min) and I want to take the bear minium. What type of fish should I be targeting and any tips on bait and lures. I was hoping for bream, snapper, shark and soem type of live bait. Cheers

I've only dabbed up that way lately, but I've seen plenty of Gar, Mullet the odd Squid and a few Bream. There should be Salmon Trout cruising around there as well.

Haven't fished the northern break water, I dont think you can walk along it unless some1 drops you off on the boat.

I reckon you meant the southern break water, 45min your doing alright take a few bandages lol.

Have got the odd smaller Snapper there plenty of Flat Head, Bream, Salmon Trout, Rays and maybe the odd Shark.

Sometimes you can get some snook in close to the wall too.

Yeah that sounds like the place, it's at the mouth of the port. Any suggestions of bait. I was thinking prawns, squidheads, whitebait and some salmon lures.

yeah mate your on the ball there should be able to get something with that range of bait.
Salmon lures can doublu up as snook lures to.

All of the above but i'd concentrate on the ST's and take some S/Ps for both the snook and bream as well, there is the odd bigger snapper there and mully but your more likely to be plagued by stingrays.
cheers brenton

Pretty much covered for fishing advice there Bass13. Couple of things to think about before you go, travel light the rocks aren't the easiest walking platform, do a double check of your gear before you go (it's a long way if you forgot something vital), if the birds are on the rocks in big numbers they get slippery as and stinky as, and the seals at the end aren't real friendly, so keep your distance. Good luck.

bream, s/t, mulloway, snook, trevally, tommies, gar, sweep, leatheries, drummer, snapper, rays, sharks, squid and crabs there each day is different at outies it goes off on different speciaes everytime I fish there, expect to be plagued with baby snapper though, fish in close and unweighted for best results.
