I have been making a regular visit to this beach for a few weeks now, and in the past week I have been getting closer to landing a good bag for the bait freezer and this morning it finally payed off.
I went down on tuesday arvo after work for an hour and got into four mullet.

Now although four is better than none, I was not too happy with the outcome and felt that there was more to be had. So I decided to head there again on wednesday (again after work).
I finished work mid afternoon

and was very excited about heading down extra early. Got to the carpark around 5ish and was greeted by two cars in the carpark. Mmmm.... "gotta be surfers", Got my gear out and headed over the hill, "Blow me!!" there's like ten people fishing the first hundred metres of beach!

Headed down anyway in the hope that someone would leave and make some room for me. As I"m making my way down I see one group of seven running back and forward to the surf, all were hooking into "My Mullet!!"
I joined the end of the line but could'nt get into the school. An hour and a half later I had two in my bag and gave up. On passing the group and seeing 50 in the bucket, I greeted them and congratulated them on their success and said that the fishing gods must be looking out for them. One said "wow is it always like this? we're from NSW and this is our first time on the beach." I cringed on the inside and just said "it's a beautiful beach is'nt it".
So in a spur of the moment this morning I decided to head down again around 5am and hope that I get in first. Met two friends at the carpark and it wasn't long before we had found the school and were pulling in those mullet.

But the school would move after a period of time and we would have to move position to refind it, but it was good fun. The total tally for the morning was 75 mullet between the three of us ranging from 24cm to 32cm, and two small salmon at 34cm.
So now I AM thanking the fishing gods for rewarding me for my persistance.
If anyone is interested in some bait, we left the beach with the school still biting.
