Last week I was delivering to a land owner not far from Lobethal.
Noticing my SAFWAA cap,we started talking fishing. He told me that he desperately wanted to diminish the redfin population in his farm dam because they eat his beloved yabbies. Reckons that when the dam is low, Huge redfin can be seen in the shallows, but he couldn't catch any.
Ears pricked, I keenly got his phone number and said I would probably bring a couple of fishing buddies with me when I returned.
Stopped and had a chat last week with the Reddy King about tactics to use in the murky waters, and the jaw dropped when I stretched the hands as far as the cockie did
Somehow he wormed his way into the little party (Cindy and myself, the Reddy King, Scorpion and Crikey Mikey) that ventured there last Sunday.
Only one decent reddy caught this day, but put a dent in the runt population with 58 reddies removed.
Cindy caught 7 on tiger worms.
Crikey Mikey and myself could only manage 3 each
The Reddy King showing the farmer his catch from the previous week
The catch when we left tony to go fish some club dams (Tony added another 24 after we left)
That 2kg Reddy will fatten up a bit more until next visit
was shown another way to fillet reddies
Scorpion then led us to a couple of club dams to have a try in.
This is where Cindy caught her 64cm Cod
and was in Ned Kelly country fishing the next dam
Gotta love the lazy days spent in the Adelaide Hills
