When I feed my goldfish fishflakes they go wild on the surface gutsing themselves.

So I'm wondering, has anyone has done the experiment of throwing some fishflakes out while fishing for carp to see what happens?

....just a thought I had....

Carp do feed off the surface sometimes but your Goldfish are somewhat 'trained' to feed like that so i wouldnt immediately expect the same response from the carp, however the stuff does stink and would work well as burley, If you were to go to the same spot and throw them in for numerous days then you might be more likely to get them feeding off the surface, any fish can be trained to feed a certain way at a certain time.

theres no doubt that they might eat flakes of the surfacethe flake are quite strong in scent and oil.
my son once threw out green and red lolly frogs and on dissection on one of the carps stomachs,a red frog was found whole and intact.

Floating dog biscuits are the numero uno carp bait in the UK!

Again, it would be because they are accustomed to being fed them?

Dried bread thrown on the surface rocks, as long as there are not ship loads of Ducks/swans/coots etc about.

A good tactic for fooling an educated surface feeding carp is to thread your free lined hook in and out of a piece of floating crust and with a few cms of line out of the side of the crust, attach another tiny bit of crust to the hook.

The Carp will nibble at the bigger bit breaking bits off and will eventually grab the tiny bit with the hook in it!

A long rod is handy for dapping your offering on the surface, alternatively, dip your bread briefly in the water to

add a bit of weight to swing it out to your fishing spot which would generally be tight in to a weed bed.
ALL FISHINGS GREAT, REDFINS THE BEST
