Hey i used to go to wynn vale to catch carps and just normally used corn off the bottom... i went a couple of time in the last few days. Are you better off using a float?

Also some people been talking about redfin there. what lures are people using for them? if u had pics aswell that would be great cause i dont know brands well.

G"day jimmy, the Carp in there have been off the bite for a few weeks ,not much been happening with them.
But they are still there,Reddys as well, they are in there, but the water has been very dirty recently and they havent been that easy either, you can use a float or sinker, but be careful when using a float to keep away from baits such as worms or gents, you can hook a turtle every cast ,which isnt the best as 9 out of 10 times they swallow the hook[not good for poor turtle].
Sorry that it sounds pretty doom and gloom, but to be honest the place has been right off the boil recently.
There are other places for decent size carp,Mawson Lakes is good and I"ve been told those ponds a bit further along golden grove road near modbury have some in there as well.
Cheers

I used to go there with my mates when we were teenagers and used to just use bread on a hook unwaited even built a pond in the back yard for the carp we caught.
The hole we dug to fit the plastic is still in the backyard mum and dad are not impressed even after all these years lol.
and cal is right dont use floats cos there's turtles everywere!

For the reddies use squidgy bugs in gold or wasabi but as Cal has said it might not be worth the effort this season.

Here 'tis, the legendary "Squidgy Bug" designed to be fished as a

surface lure for Bream over structure such as "Oyster Leases"

One of the deadliest all round, fresh water lures ever!!

Those bugs were the first packet of SPs I ever bought, sold to me by a bloke in the tackleshop when I said after reddies and bream.

2 of these caught last week along with plenty of redfin.

Anyone had luck using them across the surface? I've caught reddies in shallow water, but not much else, tho looking at Squidgey DVDs it seems bream don't mind them paddled back on a weightless jig head

Ok might try around mawsons then.

When you say to use the squidgy's over the surface u would need a fairly fast retrieve?

is that correct?
