Howdy Guys,

Just a couple of quick questions re; Browns Beach on YP, looking to go camping/fishing there during my rec leave soon.

1/ Is Browns Beach 2WD accesible? Not the beach itself, but the campground and carpark for acess to the beach.

2/ Is the camping ground there any good? I have a 7x4 on-road camper trailer that Id be looking to take. Does anyone have any pics of the campgrounds? Are they far from the beach itself?

3/ Does anyone know what the current camping & park entry fees are?

Cheers guys, I cant seem to find some of this info on the net. Hows everyones trips over there been lately?

Macca

Howdy Station49, Yes Browns is 2wd friendly but the road from Pondalowie bay is fairly corrugated most times..... just means a slow 8 to 9kms to Browns...

The camp spot itself is very basic, next to some dunes that can block a strong SW wind.....

Pondalowie Bay camp grounds are alot better with toilets and hot showers, but you need to buy tokens for the showers if i remember correctly....

Browns is great fun when it's happening

Browns is a great campsite and there's plenty of nooks and cranny's to park the trailer in, there's a loo there (Drop)and fresh water

i have heaps of good photos, but they are on disc and i'll have to go hunt them out as they are from a few years back and not on my new puter, i'm flat out busy till next week so if your not off this weekend i will post them next week

cheers chuck

PS remember to take ya own wood

I would have pics, but it's going back a few years now. way,way back in digi photos archives land.

the campground at browns is worth looking at if you are going to fish the beach a few times.

an elongated campground from memory. plenty of room for a campertrailer. very close to the stairway to Hell

correct me if I'm getting alzheimers samboman

we camped at Pondalowie Bay camp grounds.

over the years and i'm talking 39 years, i first went to browns with my fishing club when i was 15, i have camped at all the spots and have found that pondie is too big and open, any wind and it's a dust bowl when dry, but it does have a loo (drop) and showers as sambo said, also theres a phone there if thats needed too, but myself i'd stay at browns if you have never been before

heres a couple of piccys looking from the car park

cheers chuck

PS DO NOT! fish the rock to the left of the car park, it's a death trap

Hey station49,

No worries getting into browns there plenty of place to camp all through there, if you ring rinos tavern there are a few camp sites on the road to browns that are locked it's a little bit more to stay but camp sites are well looked after and very safe and all have tracks that give you beach access, I cant remember all the camp sites name I think the 1 we stay at is casurina(not sure on spelling).

Howdy,

It costs $8 to enter the Innes National Park (per car) and $5 a night to camp at Browns. $10 a night to camp at Pondalowie.

Browns is a good sheltered campground.

Check info here.

Thanks guys, heaps of useful info there. Sounds like we'll have to drop past both campsites befoe we make our decision at the time.

Looking at going in a couple of weeks, so any pics would be cool chuck. Has anyone been recently? Hows the fishing?

Im not a big surf fisher, but have a light rig for flicking chromies and all the other usual plastics/hb gear for the lagoon. Im thinking it wouldn't be the peak time of year, but not too bad for the salmon?

Fished at the legend of a spot many times over the years, and its been very kind to myself and many a fisho, thats for certain.
The biggest Salmon I"ve ever seen were when just by fluke there was a couple of lads fishing straight down from the carpark where no one fishes[because its normally crap] and one got busted off , the other lad landed his and I swear it would of weighed 14 or 15 lbs ,it was an absolute monster.
As soon as the school appeared it dissapeared, but never forget the pure size of the fish that that young fella landed.
Cheers

First time i hooked a BIG salmon on lure i thought i was snagged... till the 5kg line started peeling off....lol Nothing like a BIG browns salmon jumping with big headshakes right in front of you
