Due to work and weather haven't had the bream boat out for quite a while.

Want to dispose of my old fuel before heading out next.

What is the procedure for this please

I normally don't have this problem as I normally get out a fair bit

Put it in your car!

Seriously! The car will run absolutely fine on it, but the boat needs a higher octane rating, and this is the way most boaties use their old fuel!

fuel stabisliser helps, next time you think the boat will be sitting for a while just pour some into the tank as per instructions on the bottle. most fuels have a 3 month usable life.

Don't do it, Most and nearly all cars have higher octane than outboards.

Modern cars need clean and fresh fuel also, especially with electronic injection

If it was the offshore boat I may consider putting it in the car, as it would be straight fuel. The bream boat is a pre mixed 2 stroke with marine oil.

Rather than take any risks I would like to dump it. Does the local councils have a facilty for this?

Mark, if your fuel tank isn't full, just top it up with 98 octane petrol. Should bring the rest of the fuel up to standard octane rating.
Done this many times without any problems.

The other alternative is a long trip out to Dry Creek to the government waste liquid disposal yard. Free.
I think from memory second Tuesday of every month, till 12noon.

Be interested to hear other peoples ideas

BP recommend a storage life of 1 year for their 91 and 95 octane...and if the boat fuel is premixed then you can wait til the car is half full, throw in say 5 litres of the premix and top up at a servo with the normal stuff. Repeat until all gone.

No probs with either a mate`s Pajero or my Impreza doing it over the years, heard of others taking that way out too.

yeh i wouldnt be putting it in a newer injected model car either........if you had an old car ok it will just give a backfire maybe.

leave it out on beach road one night...........someone will drink it for you.
