Not sure I would bother going to Tauwitcherie although I will be very interested to hear how you go if you do....

And yes, chance of school mulloway in the Coorong.

The mouth may be a better place to try your luck!

^^^^^what he said, be sure to post a report
Wanted: Nereus runabout or Cuddy, anything around 17-18ft, can be a bit rough, don't mind a bit of work to get her seaworthy.
Willing to travel rural to take a look. Let me know if you have or know of one for sale

risky but very worthwhile. If you have your finger on the pulse with the barrage openings you'll be in for a show. Not long ago i was soaking a full squid bait near the mouth and didn't get a sniff in 6 hours. Eventually i tasted the water- IT was fresh! I should have been fishing for redfin ! That said, just the right mix of fresh water and salt water equals "Sweet water" - perfect for massive Jews.

Do it mate shoot down to tooheys then dont do a report so the knockers have to go down and check it out for them selves instead of feeding off your hard work!
I have no doubt they are in there, my advice is if you dont get any in 20 mins move
Gates have been closed for weeks and have only just been opened with 5 or so open so it could be the catalyst for a killer session

hahaha, knockers? whos knocking him?
Its an odd comment considering that he started this thread asking for help/advice/report on the general area and thats exactly what he got!! All that and with only 22 post under his name and having never fished the area before!!

Search the topic and youl see that quite a few of us read and discuss this very topic often and there's plenty of info around from those that fish it

I havnt been there since the "floods" but last time I fished the system, across from Ewe and Twitch barrages, in the actual channel there is plenty of coral outcrops. On a clear day youll see them. You can anchor hard up against the southern sand bank and cast into the channel amongst the coral.

Mates have also stood on top of the barrages themselves ( illegal) and drifted baits into the trickle of fresh water entring the coorong for a spastic session on the schoolies.

When I was there last, the water directly next to the barrages was extremely shallow and not suitable for a boat. Mind you this was at the end of the drought, this whole area would've changed somewhat after the floods.

carefull of shallow water, its hard to spot !!

good luck

Thankyou all for your input.

I did a search on this topic but there wasnt many recent posts. Hence the question of anyone fished this area "lately" not 3 months ago.

Does my post count really matter?

Cheers

The local Times paper fishing report says that there are samon trout from No; 19 becon in the chanal so a trol might be worth a try. and there are also schoolies near the mouth. also bream around the rocks near the shacks.

Good Luck Southern Angler, I hope you do well.

I think the mention of your post count was regarding the fact that you are new here so we should be welcoming and help you out so that you might hang around and share some of your experience with us all.

I hope you do post a report when you get back, as the only way I have learnt where and how to catch fish is from people from websites like this doing exaclty what they were designed for and that is for sharing hints and tips and making us all better fishermen in the long term....

I fished just inside the mouth today for an hour or so. I wont be going back for a few weeks atleast. I spoke to a couple of other guys and they agree the whole area needs time to get back to normal.

The old boy fished the mouth land based today for an hour after grabbing his limit of cockles.

End result...3 x 80mm ST's !
