sounded this up last summer and forgot i'd saved a screen dump..

this particular morning I landed an 9kg and a 4kg first and second cast on rubber, pretty sure you can all make out the two snapper in question.

released the 9kg from the livewell when I boated the smaller 4kg model...

nice to see a sounder scren like this every time we head out...

Are you saying/implying that you think you caught the two fish on the sounder??. If you did that is pretty legendary to spot the fish cast at em and catch em. Havent ever really heard of that being done here in SA yet.

Well done if you did though!!

Nice water temp over 19 celcius you have there. still only 13 degree last week end. We got a few but the sounder didn't look any thing like your screen and nothing near 9kilo. Don't the 4 kilo taste good yum
When I die stick my ashes in the burley cage and send me down to the snapper

Not bas shauno like to see alot more colour on the sounder when I pull up to a spot but.

The bloke I fish with can tell you give or take a few fish how many we will catch and how big they will be many years of using his sounder and knowing what he's looking at, Crazy how he does it.

May I ask where abouts down south up north or in between and I just asume its in this gulf

As far as I;m concerned there are only two fish positioned below the bait ball and active, as you can see them rising uo to the bait then falling away...

Put it this way I caught two and then didnlt get a bite till I moved to another drop..

So I;m pretty sure I did catch them both.....

Sorry abaout the coordinates guys, had to black them out, likewise the spots names... can;t give too many peices of the puzzle away...

I;m still learning this snapper caper my self, its killer to get them from your own boat after so many caught from other peoples boats.

I tried to film the 9kg fish single handed, thought I done a pretty good job untill I tried to play it back and I wan't recording...

DOH!!!

I thought that looked like a massive amount of baitfish above them.

YOur a star...Top effort.

Not many people can say theyve done that. Theres a guy named Winga in victoria who makes his own DVD's that marks up arches in western port and sounds around for long periods of time until he finds arches then fishes for them.

I mainly fish by finding a decent school of reds then burleying them into feeding.

Top way to fish though, and obviously worked a treat. That sounder looks like its of good quality too.

Dont worry bout the GPS marks, we will find it just by driving around out there till we see a spot with no fish and know that you already caught the only two that where out there...lol

That is interesting UHF.
It is good to know how others fish.

Just to share. 80% time I will not anchor/burley. Just sound out from drop to drop if I hit a patch drift over sometimes even take turns one position boat one drop bait or rubber to the school. Use a lot of fuel but effective.
Only issue is it's hard to do in crowded summer time at popular drops. Like jurasic.
Anchor sometimes out of courtesy to others.
Burley very very effective too, like you say

We use the sounder in our local river to locate individual and pairs of mulloway and they rarely resist a vibe jigging around 3 ft above them

cheers

got those two drifting, I very rarely anchor unless I see a seeting mass on the bottom....

tend to anchor when I'm fihing bait, but first up I always use rubber, i personally reckon on ave you'll get a slightly better quality of fish on moving baits.. plus they fight better on 10lb rods and no sinker to numb the fight.

I depending on tidal run, I tend to fish a 3/8oz, then a half oz when it starts to run.

after that lucanus jigs
