Running leccy battery up front? 1 year, 5 months ago #117926

Iam using a transom mounted Leccy, and went yesterday to buy a new battery,

Theres a 105ah iam wanting to get, but it weighs 32kg

Than i got thinking that would be perfect to use up front to help keep the bow down,

Will running cables 4 metres from the battery to the leccy be fine?

What guage cable should i be using?

Thanks

did it to my watersnake over 3 metres and used an old 20A extension cord and put a meter on it and there was no voltage drop and works a treat
just put a meter on the finished result and if voltages are right it shouldnt be a problm

Cheers from the Chief

The weight up front helps balance things out! Use at least 6mm cable. The longer the cable the more resistance.
Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in old clothes!

Thanks boys,

I just picked the battery up, and was quoted $52 for 10 metres of suitable cable (4 metres x red/black),

Its pretty heavy, so iam pretty sure ill weld up a bracket and basket for up under the floor up front,

Cant wait to hit the water now for 4 hours of uninterupted trolling
