after checking out some yards and what i can expect to pay for a piece of crap im am looking at replacing the floor, the wooden thingys that support the floor paralell to the hull, steel frame that i think supports (bigtime cancer)the bulkhead for cabin entry.
a couple of questions.
would the hull be reliant on strength gained from the floor
will resin etc take to the old glass when old is scuffed back
am i better off chopping than using matt
would mat be more suitable than the woven stuff
will glass take to hot dipped galvanised finished frame or is it better off being clean and scuffed.

ive removed the bulk of the floor to see what im up against, what sutable tooling is available to remove the paralell thingys and the rest of the floor.so far ive used 1mm cutting discs in a grinder(is ok until its that dusted and the wheel tracks off and shatters and one of those multi tools which takes forever and a day.
gotta look into hiring one of those suits that spray painters use with an airline attached

Mate, I don't wanna sound nasty but it sounds like you don't have half a clue what you're doing, so either pay someone who knows what they are doing, or scrap it. Those "parallel thingies" are called stringers, a bit like a backbone & ribcage in a body. Remove them without shaped supports on the outside of the hull, & your hull will deform so bad it will be useless.
Lifes too short to be too serious.

cheers quaker
i thought stringers ran east west.which led to my question about floor support for the hull its had another floor layed over the top before but the originals probably 3/8" thick which didnt seem like that much support, itll be blocked up come the time.one of the stringer paralell thingys is already unstuck from manufacture, could be moisture etc fnose.my biggest concern is hull preparation b4 glassing ive used the stuff that doesnt react with styrene etc on old glass but its not as good i reckon as it has let go on other stuff.
thanks for the interest mate

Hi fridge
Love the old Caribbeans
Anyhow Quaker is dead right about replacing stringers and ect.

At the moment, my son is replacing the stringers, floor and bulkheads in a Manors Craft with a tunnel
He spent the best part of a day alining the boat with chocks everywhere as there's nothing holding it together anymore.

If want to go ahead with this type of project, you need to do a Taff course down the Port as there is so much to learn.

You can ask a lot of questions on the net and u will get a lot of answers, but which answer is right.

Wish you well
Moggy
