  • With a front moving in later tonight the winds will drop off very quickly and Saturday and Sunday are looking like there will be light winds.

METRO
With Friday having strong winds Saturday might be the day to head out to the shipping channel for some snapper. It has been producing good fish of late and a blow should help.Crabs are still on the move with this being the best season in a long time and shows no signs of tapering off. Some nice flathead are being caught around the St Kilda to the Black Pole area along with some whiting south of the Black Pole. Whiting are improving down south around West Beach and Brighton. Snapper have been showing up now and again at the Broadway. Garfish are still out from Largs right down to Grange. The Jetties have been doing very well on the crabs with Semaphore and Largs being the pick of the bunch but other jetties are getting a feed. Mullet have started to come onto the beaches and there are good signs of a good season. West Lakes has been producing some nice school mulloway along with mullet and bream. There is still some crabs very early in the mornings. Port River action has been a bit slow but there is mullet in the creeks, some salmon trout around the North Arm, Crabs at the section Bank and a few flathead in the same area.

YORKE PENINSULA
Tuna schools continue to be strong down south near Susan Shoals where fish are smashing the surface. This blow should give them another good shake up. Whiting are still north of Marion Bay in good numbers and should hold till Easter. The annual mullet run is in full swing with plenty of mullet moving onto most beaches from Marion Bay right up to Edithburgh and beyond. Some big nannies are out from Podi and west. Some salmon were caught from Browns Beach and is showing signs they will move in soon. Point Turton is still getting some crabs and the whiting are out in deeper waters ATM but the blow may bring them in shallow. Port Victoria is the same, better whiting are out deep but you can find some nice whiting along the spit drifting. If fishing shallow at Port Vic limit the amount of burley you put out otherwise you will attract the Puffers and Trumpeters. Some good size tommies and garfish are still being caught near Rocky along with a few squid. Remember the Port Vic Coastal patrol's annual Whiting Competition is on at Port Vic over the Easter weekend with some fantastic prizes. Port Hughes still has whiting, plenty of garfish and crabs. Wallaroo has crabs, garfish, tommies and a few snapper. Edithburgh is doing well on snapper out wide and some nice whiting near the island and in the bay late afternoons. The jetty has garfish and squid. Port Vincent and Stansbury have crabs and garfish with some whiting out near the spit. Ardrossan has some snapper off the barge, crabs are plentiful for the netters and dabbers and some nice size garfish. Squid are better south of the BHP jetty. Port Pirie has seen some mullet move into the creeks and should get much better over the next month. When fishing for mullet burley heavy for best results. Some good size yellowfin whiting are still around the mouth areas. Crabs and tommies are out further near Weeroona and there was a sprinkle of whiting further west on the patches. Some salmon trout have moved into the river but not in big numbers as yet.

SOUTH
Tuna are still between Victor and the Cape, some nice snapper are coming from the drift grounds off Cape Jervis along with some big whiting out deeper south west. Rapid bay has seen an improvement on the squid along with some garfish and tommies. Mullet have moved onto most beaches with Rapid Bay, Waitpinga, Parsons being worth a fish. Salmon trout are at Waits also. Mulloway are still being caught at Salt Creek with some 50lb fish still being caught. Inside the Coorong there are mullet and some nice schoolies along the reef areas of the coorong.

FRESHWATER
Callop have gone back on the chew with some nice fish coming from Blanchetown, Castles Landing, Big Bend and Cobdogla. There has been a few nice catfish being caught in the same area but they must be released. A few yabbies have been caught in the Chambers Creeks area along with some big Carp in Lake Bonney.

I will have a huge Easter report next week where I will give as much detail for each popular holiday destination.
