Heaviest salmon for the competition attracts a $2500 cash prize with second and third heaviest attracting $1000 * $500 respectively. Tickets are available from Port Lincoln tackle outlets and Elliston business's.
ELLISTON
Garfish and bigger tommies at nighttime from the jetty. Whiting were good in Anxious Bay.
LOCKS WELL
Heaps of small salmon to around 1 kilo
SHERINGA
Good for 2.5kg salmon off the second beach
CONVENTION BEACH
Salmon catches have been very good early in the week with some fish up 4 kilo been caught.
ALMONTA / GUNYAH BEACHES
A few brisk north westerly breezes have made fishing conditions ideal over the last week among a few very large salmon have been some salmon trout, tommies and mullet.
FARM BEACH
The sticks and close to shore northwest of the beach has seen some good whiting catches along with some small flathead and salmon trout. Tommies have also been caught in all these places.
COFFIN BAY
Whiting have been in good numbers along the ledge and seal corner although majority of the fish are very small so you will need to watch the size. Tommies are also in reasonable numbers out there but again are quite small.
PORT LINCOLN
Whiting catches are improving down the passage with good catches of fish in the 35 to 45 cm range coming from Taylor's Landing, the lumps and Thistle Island area. The shipyards had salmon from trout size up to 3 kilos, which is an excellent size for that area. Good squid catches came from the North Shore, around Point Boston, and Louth Bay. Tommies from the local jetties have been small but in good numbers. Further south in the passage good numbers of nannygai were caught over the weekend and a few big blue morwong too.
TUMBY BAY
Fishing within the bay has been slow however boaties have scratched up a feed of whiting and a few tommies. The sand hills are a good place to start. Mullet are still hanging around in the marina. Squid have also been a little tricky to find however the ones being caught are monsters.
PORT NEILL
The jetty and breakwater have been excellent for tommies and squid. Yellowfin whiting have been caught from the beaches along with a few mullet. After the windy weather settled down the whiting catches picked up for the boaties.
