Yorke Peninsula

Ardrossan
A reported snapper of mixed sizes with several crews catching fish to 12kg. There were also several reports of small sharks on the snapper grounds. Whiting were hard to find with the winter fish moving out of the traditional spots. Gar and snook have moved in with reports of good numbers in close toward Rogues gully and Tiddy Widdy, one crew bagging out on gar by dabbing the shallows at night, rakers scored blue swimmer crabs from Macs beach to Black point but for every legal there were loads of throwbacks. The jetty anglers caught squid, crabs and Australian herring with the odd yellowfin whiting. There haven’t been any mulloway reports from the jetty as yet but they won’t be far away.

Port Vincent
Reports were quiet from Vincent with crews reporting a sprinkling of whiting, Snook and Gar. Blue swimmer crabs were caught by those using drop nets both by boaties and those fishing the wharf. Australian herring were available in the marina along with a few bream and snook.

Freshwater
The south para reservoir has been fishing well with several reports of redfin up to a kilo with lots of smaller fish amongst them. Fishing licenses can be purchased from us for $20 and has no expiry date. We can also advise where and when to catch them and have a huge range of lures to tempt them into biting. Murray anglers have reported callop in good numbers from Manum and upstream from Blanchtown, river regulars have noticed an increase in numbers of native fish like silver perch and catfish. A number of people have reported catching small native fingerlings in shrimp traps which must be released but is a great sign for the future.

For any advice come in and see us in the shop, we have a huge range of fishing and boating gear along with camping equipment and firearms. Were open 7 days for your convenience. Happy fishing from the team at Gawler Fishing & Outdoors.
