South Australia had King George Whiting as its target fish and Dan Harvey, Mick McCallum and Mark Wilkins went out to the Sir Josephs Banks Group to find some big fish. The accompanying photos show first and second place whiting. Top effort guys!

Elliston

Boaties scored some decent whiting in Waterloo and Anxious Bay along with plenty of trevally. The jetty had trevally, large squid, garfish mid morning and big tommies at night.

Locks Well

Locks fished well over the past week for salmon trout and salmon up to 3 kilos.

Sheringa

Sheringa has fished well over the past week with big tommies and whiting, mullet and flathead all coming from the first beach, and big salmon from the surf beaches.

micks_51Farm Beach

Boats working the Fence line did well on large whiting; many spots along the Sand hills have a lot more undersize than legal.

Further offshore from Sir Isaac’s nannygai have been plentiful and there are lots of undersized snapper in the same area.

Tuna have slowed down but a few were caught at Rocky Island, and a few boats caught some small fish close to Greenly.

Coffin Bay

Whiting catches have improved off the ledges especially on a run in tide. Other fish being caught include garfish and salmon trout.

Boaties are getting nice whiting around some of the leases and there is garfish and salmon trout around the Brothers.

Port Lincoln

Very good numbers of tuna were found at South Neptune Island where the water temperature is warmer. Some legal snapper came from the town jetty Monday morning and there are squid, yellowfin whiting, snook, salmon trout, tommies and some rather large garfish also. Yellowfin were caught between Stenross boat ramp and the silos.

Sleaford bay has produced some good catches of salmon from Miller’s to the salmon hole. Most of them between 1 and 3 kilograms with a few larger fish in the mix.

Tumby Bay

The Group was reliable for whiting with some good size fish landed.

Port Neill

The Jetty and Breakwater had good mixed bags of tommies, garfish, squid, snook, leatherjackets and mainly undersize kingy’s. Boaties scored very good whiting mainly on the northern grounds and small to medium snapper on local wrecks and reefs.

Port Lincoln Anglers Club
