  • With some more nice weather this weekend combined with some reasonable tides this weekend should be a great weekend to get out local or get away out into the country.

METRO
Blue crabs are still doing very well with some nice size crabs around Semaphore, Black Pole, North of Port Gawler and Silt Grounds. Rakers should also do well up towards Thompson’s and Webb Beach. Whiting are slowly thinning out but there are still good fish south from West Beach to O’Sullivan’s. Garfish are plentiful but size varies. Semaphore, Wonga Shoal, Grange and West Beach are the better areas. Some nice tommies are in good numbers in amongst the garfish. Jetty anglers have been doing well on the crabs, Tommies and garfish at night with Largs, Semaphore, and Grange doing OK. Brighton Jetty has squid, tommies and some garfish early in the mornings and night. For those chasing Bronzies there has been good numbers along the metro coast along with the Black Pole and St Kilda areas. Squid can be found off West Beach and of course Marino but there are some nice ones being caught at the Black Pole area towards the mangroves. Snook are right along the coast over the weed beds with St Kilda, Black Pole, Semaphore, Grange and West Beach being the better areas. Snook are also off the jetties late in the evening and early morning. Yellowfin whiting are starting to filter onto the metro beaches and there has been a few caught around St Kilda. Tennyson beach being the better area. There are also some nice garfish early morning off the beach wading out. Port river has some mulloway around the Pelican Point and Quarantine station areas. Salmon trout have been thin with just a few in the north arm and some nice schools at the end of the St Kilda Breakwater. A few bream have been caught at St Kilda and near the old Birkenhead bridge. West lakes is still doing OK with the school mulloway and the bream have picked up at both ends of the lake.

Recently there has been a lot of shark sightings along the metro coast so take care.

YORKE PENINSULA
Whiting are still going strong at Port Hughes mainly at the northern end, Port Victoria out past Goose and the wrecks, Chinamans, Hardwick Bay in shallow, Edithburgh north of the island, Stansbury south of the spit and a few are being caught out from Price towards the eastern side. Garfish are pretty well at most towns with Port Hughes, Wallaroo, Port Victoria, Ardrossan, James Well, Black Point, Port Vincent, Stansbury and Port Broughton being the better places. Crabs are at Wallaroo, Port Broughton, Port Hughes, Ardrossan, Price, Port Vincent, Black Point and Stansbury. For the landbased rakers try Port Vincent, North of Port Clinton, Black Point, Tiddy Widdy and Stansbury. Nice size Yellowfin whiting are coming from Black Point (Mainly at night), pine Point, South of Ardrossan and the beach just north of Port Clinton. Squid numbers have slowed a bit but there are still some off Pine Point, Inside the spit of Stansbury, Port Vincent, Wallaroo and Port Hughes. Big snook are coming from Black Point, Wallaroo, Port Hughes and Port Victoria. Gummy sharks have moved up the Spencer Gulf and it is always worth having a line out just in case. They are mainly from Hardwick bay up to Wallaroo.

Yorke Peninsula jetties are doing well (Which are open!). Garfish, crabs, tommies, snook and squid are coming from Wallaroo and Port Hughes jetties, Point Turton has salmon trout, garfish and squid, Stansbury has garfish, tommies, crabs, snook and squid, Ardrossan has crabs, tommies and some squid along with some school mulloway at the end at night.

Browns Beach has been doing well on salmon mainly late afternoons and into the night, Pondi has garfish, whiting and a few flathead wading around the left hand side of the bay, Stenhouse jetty has still been too murky and is very slow, Marion bay has garfish, tommies and squid. Daly Heads has salmon late in the afternoons. Butlers is now open and there are some nice tommies and there are a few salmon still around off the beach late in the day. There are some nice nannies, whiting and flathead are out at Wedge, out from Pondi there is nannies and a few Blue Morwang but the Tuna have yet to arrive with only some small pods out from Wedge.

FURTHER NORTH
Whiting, crabs and squid are at Whyalla and there are some good size kingfish at Port Augusta with some schools hitting the surface at times and there is plenty of crabs and some squid out front of the shacks.

SOUTH
Salt Creek has been plagued with weed but hopefully things have settle this weekend as there is some nice mulloway off the beaches there when the weed is gone. Try fish a wider gutter if you encounter weed. The Coorong has some nice mullet and there are some nice schoolies further up towards the barrage which are taking livies. As you have herd the Goolwa beach is now open for cockles. Please ensure you stick to the size limit and bag limit before taking them up from the waters edge of the beach as fisheries are very tuff on this. Rapid Bay continues to improve with tommies, garfish and some squid, Squid have come from the Bluff jetty at night.

FRESHWATER
The river continues to rise with Lock 10 now flooded. Not much news has come in but the AAA had their annual freshwater comp with lots of carp being caught from Lake Bonney and the surrounds. Callop are biting well in the lower lakes near the islands. If anyone has any reports for freshwater please add.
