  2. Port Lincoln fishing report 12/11/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

The good weather over the weekend had plenty of anglers out and about. From all reports, most of those that fished over the weekend had moderate to good results. Out offshore, the Tuna don’t seem to have appeared yet, but there are good numbers of reef fish to keep boaties busy and well fed.

Remember to come in to Spot On and let us know how your fishing trip went and if you get a good picture or 2, send them to us at portlincoln@spotonfishing.com.au with the details and we will put them in the paper with the report.

  3. Port Lincoln fishing report 07/11/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

A few Squid, snook and Garfish throughout local bays. King George Whiting are also being caught, however there are some smaller undersize fish having to be returned to the water. If you are chasing Whiting, you may have to deal with shittys and unwanted bycatch such as puffer fish if you use too much burley.

Some decent size Blue Swimmer Crabs are starting to show up, however there are a lot that are undersize and a few females carrying eggs.

Australian Salmon can be hit and miss around the Sleaford to Wanna coastline. Some anglers reported doing really well, especially casting metal lures towards schools, where as other anglers strangely didn’t manage to land any fish.

Lots of boats fished between Point Boston and Point Bolingbroke on the weekend with mixed results on whiting, most squid caught were on the small side. At least the weather was great for part of the long weekend. Plenty of people got out fishing on the nice days, and by all reports, some great fish were caught. Lets hope that we get some more days like Sunday. Pictured we have Carolyn Hanrahan with a PB Australian Salmon. 81cm and 5.2 Kg. Excellent effort. Carolyn and partner Brad who are from Port Pirie came down for the weekend and fished Gunyah beach. They landed and released 40 fish between them. Excellent effort guys! 9. Port Lincoln fishing report 03/09/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

Proper bay has started to see some king George whiting appear along with plenty of squid. Most of the Islands in the Passage have had good numbers of whiting caught over broken ground and the Nannygai, Snapper and Blue Morwong have continued to keep anglers busy over the deep water reefs.

The local jetties and wharf have been quiet, but a good feed of squid is still possible with quality jigs if you fish early or late.

  11. Port Lincoln fishing report 13/08/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

Cold and windy has been the story for most of the week. This has kept most anglers indoors, so there hasn’t been much to report. This weekend looks like the wind will behave itself, and the temperatures may even climb up a bit, so get your gear ready and take advantage of some good fishing conditions while you can.

  12. Port Lincoln fishing report 23/07/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

The North Shore has had anglers chasing a variety of species over this past week, from both land and boat. King George Whiting has been a popular target, along with squid for boaties, with most anglers finding decent numbers.

Yellowfin Whiting had been a target for land based anglers with mixed reports. Some anglers found decent sized fish, however consistent numbers was not common.

A few anglers also targeted Garfish along this stretch of coast, with both land based and boaties doing well during calmer weather, or early in the morning.

Boaties venturing offshore have had success chasing Nannygai, and Blue Morwong from lumps based off of Port Lincoln and throughout the passage.

Reports are still coming through of Salmon being caught throughout the surf coast of the Lincoln National park. Some decent schools had been spotted by anglers with fish being close enough to shore to cast a metal lure at, giving anglers consistent action on 2 to 4kg fish.

The town jetty has some decent Squid and Tommies throughout early morning and late afternoon sessions.

Try the main Wharf for some smaller Salmon Trout, and decent sized Tommies.

  13. Port Lincoln fishing report 16/07/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

The weather over the past week had not been on an anglers side. Depending what you were targeting, high swell, rough winds, or average tides (and near freezing conditions) made fishing for most anglers very hard or impossible. The fishos who did manage to venture out during breaks through all this were quite successful in finding some good fish.

  14. Port Lincoln fishing report 09/07/2015

    Teaser Paragraph:

Now that the wind has died down and most days are calm, plenty of anglers have headed out and most have caught quality fish no matter what species they have been chasing. The Australian Salmon fishing just keeps getting better, with fish consistently being caught in the 4 -5 kilogram range. Squid in all of the local bays are small, but plentiful for boaties and shore based anglers and while the King George Whiting have been difficult, they are still there for those willing to put in some effort. Remember that the Australian Salmon Championship is still running, so get an entry and hit the west coast beaches for a chance to land some big prizes.

    Teaser Paragraph:

This week's Port Lincoln fishing report thanks to Spot On Fishing and Outdoors - Port Lincoln.

It seems that the cold weather has settled in and the only fish that anglers are willing to brave the weather for are Whiting. Luckily, the Whiting fishing has been good over the last few weeks for both boat and land based anglers.

Don’t put your boats away just yet, we should be seeing some calm weather in the next few weeks and some good tides as well, which makes for some good fishing if you rug up with a warm tea or coffee and a good jacket and beanie.
