Now for what was biting and where

Elliston / Sheringa

We are still hearing the odd report about schools of big Salmon in close to Sheringa’s beaches.

In Elliston, most Salmon caught are averaging between 2-3 kilograms.

Try the jetty for Tommies and Squid during the day and night.

Garfish are being caught from some of the sheltered beaches, with some King George Whiting also in the area.

Boaties heading out offshore are reporting good catches of Snapper and Nannygai.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach

Reports indicate that salmon averaging around 2 kilograms are being caught by anglers fishing both Gunya, and Almonta beach. Fish tend to be swimming through gutters alone with very little reports of schools in the area.

Farm Beach

King George Whiting are being reported by boaties fishing in the area, with sizes being from undersize up to 40cm. Squid are also a popular catch.

Coffin Bay

Some decent sized King George Whiting are showing up throughout Coffin Bay, being caught by anglers fishing both land based and boats.

Garfish and Salmon Trout are also common catches lately.

Yellowtail Kingfish had also been sighted through the bay.

Snapper ranging from ruggers through to some 5 kilogram plus fish are being caught if fresh baits and burley is used. Most reports had come from boat anglers, however some land based anglers fishing further along the coast have had success if they are prepared to put in the time and fish the correct tide.

Port Lincoln

Yellowtail Kingfish have been sighted around local jetties and beaches.

Yellowfin Whiting are being sighted by anglers fishing from the town jetty and towards the Limani Hotel.

Some good sized King George Whiting are being caught by boaties fishing the North Shore including one 52cm honker.

Sleaford to Wanna has had reports of Salmon schooling up close enough to cast at from the shoreline.

Offshore has seen the Tuna fishing pick up again, with fish in the 5-15kg bracket being caught. The hot lure this week seems to be any hard bodied minnow in green.

A few Nannygai and Snapper have been caught offshore with jigging being the popular method.

Tumby Bay

The Group has King George Whiting of decent size, and rugger snapper if anglers are prepared to do a bit of hunting and fight through the shittys, as many anglers report there are lots of Leather Jackets, Rock Cod, Trumpeters, and Fiddler Rays in the area.

Try the jetty for some Squid and Tommies.

Port Neill

Plenty of Garfish in varying sizes and a few big Squid have been caught.

Arno Bay

Blue Swimmer Crabs and a few Snapper have been reported. The Snapper have been in the small to mid sized bracket, but are good fun on soft plastics and small Lucanus jigs.

Cowell

Plenty of Blue Swimmer Crabs are in the area. King George Whiting are being caught by boaties outside the harbour.
