  • A few Squid, snook and Garfish throughout local bays. King George Whiting are also being caught, however there are some smaller undersize fish having to be returned to the water. If you are chasing Whiting, you may have to deal with shittys and unwanted bycatch such as puffer fish if you use too much burley.

Some decent size Blue Swimmer Crabs are starting to show up, however there are a lot that are undersize and a few females carrying eggs.

Australian Salmon can be hit and miss around the Sleaford to Wanna coastline. Some anglers reported doing really well, especially casting metal lures towards schools, where as other anglers strangely didn’t manage to land any fish.

A reminder that the Snapper season is now closed until midday the 15th of December. Any snapper accidentally caught while targeting other species must be returned to the water immediately.

Now for what was biting and where

Elliston / Sheringa
Try the Elliston jetty for some decent sized Squid, and plenty of Tommies.

Sheringa is having reports of Tommies, King George Whiting, Mullet, and the odd Flathead.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach
A few reports of good sized salmon have come from here. Most anglers have reported that there are no schools or very small schools of fish visible, but if you cast metal lures or pilchards into the gutters and holes, there are plenty of fish around.

Farm Beach
Some nice king george whiting and silver trevally have been caught in 2-6 meters of water. Cockles and squid have been the pick of the baits.

Coffin Bay
Some good Nannygai, blue morwong and swallowtail are being caught from offshore drops and around Sir Isaacs. Jigs and baits have both been very successful. Inside the bay, anglers have been doing well along the ledge for nice sized king george whiting and the odd flathead and silver trevally. The kingfish seem to be hanging around inside the sanctuary zones, so if you chase these fish, please make sure that you stay outside of the boundaries.

Port Lincoln
A few Squid, snook and Garfish throughout local bays. King George Whiting are also being caught, however there are some smaller undersize fish having to be returned to the water. If you are chasing Whiting, you may have to deal with shittys and unwanted bycatch such as puffer fish if you use too much burley.

Tumby Bay
Boat anglers are doing well on squid and king george whiting in the bay and out around the group. Most of the whiting don’t need to be measured as they are well above the legal minimum. Cockles are the best bait, but catches are improved by using a good berley to keep the fish interested.

Port Neill
Try the jetty and breakwater for some Tommies, Garfish, and Squid.

Boaties are doing well on King George Whiting both north and south of the town.

Arno Bay
The jetty has had anglers doing well on Squid.
Boaties are reporting good catches of King George Whiting

Cowell
The inner harbour has seen some nice blue swimmer crabs, king george whiting, salmon trout, tommies and silver trevally caught.
