  • Cold and windy has been the story for most of the week. This has kept most anglers indoors, so there hasn’t been much to report. This weekend looks like the wind will behave itself, and the temperatures may even climb up a bit, so get your gear ready and take advantage of some good fishing conditions while you can.

Now for what was biting and where

Elliston / Sheringa
Salmon have been consistent on most beaches. A few whiting and sweep have been caught at first beach.

Almonta / Gunyah Beach
Salmon have still been hard to find. Beach fisherman have found that brined pichards thrown in the gutters and

Farm Beach
A few quality whiting have been caught in deeper water out from Farm Beach. In shallow, 99% of the fish have been undersized.

Coffin Bay
Only a few reports of legal sized whiting this week. Most have come from around the oyster leases with cockles being the best bait along wist mussel berley.

Port Lincoln
For anglers venturing out in a boat, Thistle Island has had multiple reports of decent catches of fish. King George Whiting had been a popular target with some anglers bagging out very quickly during morning sessions.

For anglers fishing heavy bottom around Thistle, Nannygai, Blue Morwong, Snapper, and Swallowtail were all reported being caught on baits and jigs.

Some big schools of Tommies averaging between 15-30cm are being caught throughout local bays during times of high water on most lures and soft plastics.

The North Shore has had reports of decent size Garfish being caught from both land and boat anglers.

Tumby Bay
King George Whiting at the Group, along with the occasional big school of Garfish during calmer weather.

Port Neill
Squid and some nice sized garfish have been caught from the jetty.

Arno Bay
Snapper have been good out wide over the wrecks. All methods have worked, but big soft plastics have caught most of the bigger fish.

Cowell
Snapper out wide and some king george whiting and squid in close.
