Port Lincoln fishing report 15/10/2015

bjorn2fish
  • Nannygai are being caught in good numbers, along with the odd Snapper and Blue Morwong throughout the passage and lumps beyond. Reports of small Tuna averaging 7kg have come in from South Neptune Island and surrounding areas. Lots of boats fished between Point Boston and Point Bolingbroke on the weekend with mixed results on whiting, most squid caught were on the small side. Sleaford to Wanna had 2 to 4 kg salmon and sharks were sighted near Lone Pine due to the dead Minke whale that has washed up on the beach.

Pictured is Toby Harris who is 5 years old. Toby went out on a boat fishing for the first time ever and managed to land this 41cm whiting. Very nice for a first ever fish. Also, National Parks have informed us that the tracks to Millers and Salmon holes have been reopened.

Tumby Bay
The Group has been very hit and miss for king george whiting. Mussel berley helps keep the fish in the area and on the bite when you do find them. Some very nice garfish have been reported in the bay and some nice squid from the jetty have kept local anglers busy.

Port Neill
Big squid have been reported along with plenty of tommies. Try the northern grounds for a few king george whiting to 35cm.

Arno Bay
King george whiting have been very patchy, but good numbers of squid have been caught from the jetty. Not too many reports of snapper yet, but they should pick up over the next few weeks.
