  • This weekend has the good and the bad. Saturday will be a great day to get out but Sunday is looking a bit average. Spring weather is almost here.

Picture below from a trip with friends the other weekend at Port Vic. Bag of whiting and plenty of squid. :)

METRO
Some nice whiting are still being caught and this weekend tides will give you more time to get them. Grange tyre reef had whiting in small spurts but should be good this weekend with slower tides. Whiting are still being caught in around the 6 metre mark south of West Beach. The footy park ground has also produced some nice fish on the reef. Nice ruggers have moved in around Glenelg and Brighton. There are some garfish just in closer from the Semaphore reef but they are not huge as yet. This spot is great later in September. Outer Harbour was slow last week but the North Arm is producing some nice salmon trout and some mulloway. St Kilda had some nice bream and a sprinkle of salmon trout and the odd yellowfin whiting. Some nice yellowfin, salmon trout and flathead are coming from the northern beaches like Thompsons and there is some crabs also for a feed. Port river has bream just north of the Birkenhead Bridge and towards the train bridge using bloodworms. West Lakes still has some big bream near the bridges on the boulevard. A snapper around the 43cm mark was caught at the northern end off the beach last week and there a some small mulloway as well. Crabs are still being caught between the Fairwell beacon and the silt grounds. In the next couple of weeks we should see some nice garfish move onto the grounds of Semaphore.

YORKE PENINSULA
Ardrossan has started to improve with the snapper with a few nice fish caught last week. Hopefully not enough for the longliners to rape the place again. Some nice whiting are coming from Stansbury along with squid and a sprinkle of garfish. Coobowie has whiting in the shallows and off the point. Edithburgh has been doing well on the whiting and some snapper came from the channel. The jetty is producing some tommies, squid and some whiting off the end corner. Point Turton improved with some nice whiting coming from the Soutter grounds. The jetty still has some nice squid. Port Victoria has plenty of whiting north of the island along with big snook schooled up between the Songvaar and Deadmans. Port Hughes has been a hit with some and a miss for others. Some nice whiting came from the Tippara reef in the morning and coopers fired in the afternoon. There is still squid in most areas as well. Won't be long and the garfish will move onto the light. Wallaroo jetty produced some crabs and a few squid. The marina still has some nice bream and some legal mulloway. Port Broughton is doing very well on whiting, along with crabs and some nice garfish. Browns Beach has been a hit and miss but when they are there they are biting well. Dolphin Beach has been producing whiting and nice tommies, Pondi has some salmon and a few flathead in the bay for those soft plastics fisherman. Gleeson's had a nice school of salmon last week so the Dust Hole should be a good proposition.

SOUTH
My contact for Waitpinga hasn't contacted me this week but I am sure the salmon would be still hanging around. Maybe he is sick of the crowds.LOL. The Bluff jetty had some nice squid and a few tommies. Salt Creek is improving each week with salmon still there along with some nice mulloway and gummies. Weed can be a problem some days especially just after a blow. The beaches west of Kingston are producing plenty of salmon.

FRESHWATER
Good reports of callop are coming from Blanchetown and Castles Landing. Mannum also is getting some nice callop. Cod have started to show up between Renmark and Murtho in amongst the callop.
