Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 04/05/2016

bjorn2fish
  • With the super front moving in and the models saying it will hit SA I would be keeping a very good eye out. Safety first!!! I won't do a big report this week as most areas will be unfishable.

METRO
While this blow is really welcomed and it will stir the fish on especially the whiting and snapper. with the upcoming fronts this is a time where the shore base angler can really get into some decent fish. Outer Harbor Breakwater is the place to be this weekend as the big winds and swell will certainly mover fish in. Bait fish will shelter and big fish will be right behind. Friday and early Saturday will be the best for the boaties and there is plenty of whiting at the silt grounds and Black Pole. Salmon trout have moved into the Port River and with sheltered waters this will be fun. On top of that there is still some good mullet in the creek mouths.

YORKE PENINSULA
There is going to be some places that will work. Black Point should have mullet and salmon trout along with Yellowfin Whiting on the high tide. Wallaroo should be very nice in the marina and the opening of the marina. The jetty at wallaroo should produce some small snapper as well along with squid. Get down to Port Giles as they should be a lot of tommies and squid. Port Broughton is the pick for me where you will get a lot of snook and salmon trout in the channel. This place can be fished on a SW wind of upto 30 knots. Further south around Browns Beach and surroundings I would stay very clear of. With big swells predicted up to 5-8 metres it will be unfishable. Poni however should be a dream west of the ramp where you will get plenty of mullet and garfish and whiting. The other spot is Pirie where you can have a great time on the salmon trout and mullet within the creeks.

SOUTH
BIG SWELLS AND BIG SEAS means keep away big time.
Coorong should do very well with the bait fish moving in and there should be some nice sice mullet and some bigger salmon trout.

FRESHWATER
Well if you want to get a few callop well this is the weekend. There is still some nice callop from Mannum to Blanchetown.
