Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 17/10/2015

  • With light SE to east winds the weekend is looking OK. There has been a shortage of gents of late but come Friday this should go back to normal.

Sorry guys n girls, I'm a bit late passing this on this week due to family health issues.

METRO
Garfish have been spasmodic but there is a feed at Semaphore, Bower road ground and some at the silt grounds. Norma is also worth a try as well. Whiting have been in good numbers around Hendley and Brighton areas on the patches in 5-6 metres of water. Nice ruggers are near the broadway and just north of Brighton jetty. Squid seem to be in good numbers from Brighton and upto the silt grounds. Crabs are mixed sizes but there is a feed around. Best spots for the crabs have come from the Semaphore area but north of Port Gawler have better size.

YORKE PENINSULA
Whiting are still in good numbers off kemps at Port Hughes, Port Victoria north of Beatrice and the reef, Soutter and the drift grounds around Hardwick Bay, Edithburgh also has some nice whiting. Snapper are improving out fro Corny Point and should move north on most grounds (Hopefully before the closed season). Try the outer grounds off Port Victoria and out in the channel and Jarrasik off Port Hughes. Port Vincent, Ardrossan and Price have crabs and garfish. Edithburgh has big tommies mainly at night. Salmon are still down south around Butlers and Browns with a few off Dolphin beach. Nice whiting are coming from Marion bay just 2 kms out from the jetty.

SOUTH
Waitpinga has some nice salmon trout and Parsons has bigger fish off the rocks. Salt creek still has salmon but mulloway around the 12-15kg range are being beached between the 42 mile and tea tree. Big barrel tuna continue to be caught down the south east. Make sure your boat is upto it and stay safe.

FRESHWATER
Callop are really turning it on around Manuum, Big Bend, Cobdogla and Cadell. Catfish have also been caught but needs to be returned to the river. Carp numbers are increasing and should be great fun for the kids at Lake Bonney.
