Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 24/09/2015

bjorn2fish
  • Been not well with the flu so the report will be quick and more detailed next week with the long weekend coming up. Fishing of late is improving with just about all the summer species migrating into the gulf waters.

METRO
Garfish and crabs are increasing week by week and now the crabs are getting closer to even rake for them on the northern beaches. Whiting catches have still been coming in with fish on the silt grounds, Norma, John Robb, Grange tyre reef, The bag ground and Kemps. Squid are still being caught around Brighton through to Semaphore. For the crabs try depths of 5-6 metres for best results. Salmon trout catches improved in the Port river with a lot of fish being caught on soft plastics. Bream are in West Lakes but little reports came in on mulloway. Snapper are moving in around the Brighton area where there was some nice ruggers caught.

YORKE PENINSULA
Whiting catches from Wallaroo right down to Point Turton are still biting well. Snook have moved into the gulfs in big numbers also. Nice tommies are coming from most jetties along with crabs off Wallaroo and Port Hughes jetties. Squid are plentiful in both gulfs including jetties. Garfish are showing up on most grounds and are good size. Snapper are coming from Ardrossan but fish are north, Edithburgh around the Marion Reef and channel areas and Marion Bay just west of Althorpes. Marion Bay also has big squid off the jetty.

SOUTH
Salt Creek did well with salmon and some nice mulloway around to 10kg range. Bigger fish came from the Kingston area.

FRESHWATER
Callop are pretty well everywhere with the best areas being Blanchetown, Big Bend, Manuum and Cobdogla. Shrimp numbers have been picking up as well.

Tight Lines from The Dorsal Fin Team :)

Again apologies for the short report but I am on the improve
