Dorsal Fin - SA Fishing Report 26/02/2016

bjorn2fish
  • This weekend has very good tides and for a change the weather is going to play also. We have next weekend spots for Friday and Saturday for people that don't have a boat to fish at Port Victoria for the Tuition weekend. Email to info@dorsalfin.com.au for info.

METRO
Crabs have been the big thing. Jetties (Semaphore and Largs) are doing very well at night during the running tides. Out in the boat there are plenty from St Kilda right down pass Henley Beach. Get on them before they move out. Whiting fishing is slowly improving from Brighton right up to areas south of the Black Pole. Garfish have been a bit finicky locally but we have been doing a coloured (RED) gent which is showing some good results. Squid numbers have slowly improved and are along most weed beds from the Silt Grounds down to Brighton. South of Semaphore has been doing well. West Lakes is still doing well on bream, mullet and the odd schoolie but mainly north of the rowing club. Port River has been great for people chasing crabs on the outer harbor breakwater and there is the odd rugger as well. The shipping channel has been doing well on snapper, mainly because the crabs have been full on in the channel.

YORKE PENINSULA
In Spencer there is still whiting from Wallaroo to Point Turton. Edithburgh has also been doing well mainly north of the island and in the bay late afternoons. Plenty of garfish at Port Broughton, Wallaroo, Port Hughes, Port Victoria, Point Turton, Edithburgh, Black Point, Port Vincent and Ardrossan. Squid are still in good number around Port Hughes, Woll Bay, Edithburgh, Pine Point and south of Ardrossan. Marion Bay is still hitting the big whiting out from the jetty and north and the tuna are still off Althorpes and west towards Susan Shoals. A few Mulloway were caught from Gleesons and Berry but not big. Don't need to mention about crabs as they are everywhere both sides.

SOUTH
There are still reports of tuna between New Headlands and The Pages. At the Cape there are still some nice snapper SW of the ramp where they are drifting for them about 3kms out and as far as 5kms. Salt Creek is still getting the odd mulloway but there has also been some salmon move through. The Coorong is still producing above average fish.

FRESHWATER
Callop are still active around Blanchetown and Big Bend but some nice fish came north from Cobdogla.

Sorry it's short but had a lot on
