rangfish 1
Howdy Guys,I am in need of a bit of help here. Lip Grippers, I was wondering are they safe to use on fish or do they do more harm than good to a fish? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
Ranger 48
Lip Grips are a great invention. For large fish though, don't try to lift them solely by the head. Make sure you support their weight under the belly or you will do them damage. For anything like a Cod which you are intending to release, I'd suggest getting it to the shallows, getting into the water with it, have your photos and the release it without removing it from the water if possible. rangfish
catch-nun 2
Crikey Mikey donated a DVD to the SAFWAA library, Murray Cod Magic Volume 1.Give Jono (our sexy librarian) a message and reserve it,It shows lip grippers used efeectively. wish I didn't buy my gloves now after watching this. rangfish

statesquider 0
I love my pistol lip grips Makes life a lot easier when you don't have a net around. I initially bought mine for fishing in the torrens as I like to ride in. Very handy if you are running light gear and I love them when i'm wading and can't carry a net. Once the grips are on them they do not come off!Definitely worth investing in! rangfish
__matt__ 0
Worth their weight in gold. I've got a set of shimano's heavy boga copy. Unreal. Never had them slip once. As ranger said don't go liftin fish by them, but they are way safer c&r wise than a gillshot. Also lasted so long without any signs of corrosion at all, still work like brand new. rangfish
Piranha 76
I'm a glove user but from friends that use the grippers they suggest only to buy the ones with the swivelling head, aparently the ones that don't swivel can do some serious damage especially to fish that either spinn or deathroll like cod!cheers:) rangfish and catch-nun
