Looking for some advice for a first time crabber and recreational fisher. I've been told that St Kilda north of Adelaide is good for crabs. I have a net and some squid, plus a light rod that I'd like to try out. Thinking of going early morning. Any advice on how to catch crab and maybe a fish or two? Is the legal limit for crabs still 11cm and 40 per person? Not that we have any thought of catching that many. Thanks for being nice to a newbie.

Hi kerr_rhys,There is no jetty at Saint Kilda,You have to fish off of the rocks and you will catch:Salmon TroutBreamWhiting and you might even get a Flat Head there. It is good for Salmon Trout at the end of the break wall(off the rocks).I have caught a lot off Salmon Trout there in the past on Soft plastics or Whitebait. You get crabs there but you have to rake for them on the beach side.I hope this helps and good luck Marc.
