Bass13 10
I was looking at buying a new 12ft beach rod, medium to heavy(20kg) strength? I would like to spend around $150-250 mark. I'm after something to catch big game off the beach, with good casting any suggestions. Cheers

rocknev 2
im biased as hell, but an old butterworth or snyderglas will see you right for the next 30 yrs or more.... hard to find, but still a few around...heard a rumour wilson have bought the rties and the moulds to remake the snyder's., if they do the same quality as the originals i know what i would be spending money on... Boyington214 0
Snyderglas for me as well. I've got an MT144 8 Wrap Snyder that I use coupled with an ABU 7000C. Dragged an 18kilo Eagle Ray up the beach on the west coast in Heavy Surf without any fuss. So they are definately worth the investment. Only problem is what Rocknev says: Hard to find, but they are still out there.
thefunkychicken 0
Yep, I'll say similar to the above...Snyder!Or the Daiwa Sensor Surf range might have a few good options for you.

spog777 1
I like my 14 footer as opposed to 12 foot-but thats just me and a matter of preference. The wilson MT8144 is a bloody good rod from what ive heard but me im still doing ok with my old rebuilt butterworth

Boyington214 0
My Snyder needs a birthday too. First guide after the ferrule is totalled. Got caught under a full esky in the back of a 4wd. No, it wasn't full of fish, we were still on the way!
