Guest matty_G
spinfishers are bullet proof for surf fishing,if i couldnt afford saltiga n didnt hav overhead surf gear id be gettin one without a doubt!
twinpower 151
i could save for a saltiga but i dont see the need if im going to be using it around the elements of sand and salt water haha it jus seems like i would have to baby it on the beach haha so i would go for somethin cheaper and ballsy like a spinfisher haha cheers tp
Del 245
i have a couple big ocumas.. but my first prefference..
snake 1
nothing wrong with spinfishers will last a lifetime a little weighty but that shouldnt be a problem and a shitload cheaper!!!
Softy 2,991
ALL BOW DOWN TO THE ALVEY!!!!!
T BONE 1
Another option to check out & consider would be the Fin-Nor Spin Reels, anything from the 7500, 8500 & 9500 sizes will accommodate 300+m of 30lb mono. Should be able to get one for not much more than a Spinfisher too.
burlz 0
i use the daiwa emcast 6000 works for me big spools and u get a spare one when u buy the reel , i have never had a problem with these reels , tackled big rays , sharks and some larger salmon with ease :cheer:

Savagelip 4
Daiwa emcast will hold 25lb-11.4kg @ 320yds (290m) or 30lb-13.6kg @ 240yds (220m) or 40lb-8.2kg @ 190yds (175m) nice reel
USSR 0
I have the "Made in US of A" Spinfisher 9500 ss,and that is over 25 years old and never missed a beat.Holds 310m of 30lb mono, and casting wise, well there's "better around",but, you get by .....Yalata gutters are only 30 yards out anyway ...........And being the old fart that I am,I still have a couple of Daiwa GS9's that are indestructable as well.....smaller capacity than Spinfishers though.Ask your Grand father......he'll tell you http://www.campbellsprotackle.com/store/product.asp?ID=410B)

Snook 1
Shimano Saragosa 14000, lovely lovely reel with 10 year warranty.IMO Stay away from Daiwa, not really made for AUSTRALIAN surf conditions unless you like pulling them apart completely every few trips Daiwa reels are really only made for casting competitions imo.Shimano & Penn are best. You won't find any reel repairers or tackle shop owners using daiwa saltiga surf and the like, 1000's of small inner parts and too much to go wrong. overpriced when a shimano saragosa for example costs half the price and lasts twice as long and really is very similar in smoothness anyway. brenton 637
anything cheap and reliable because its bound to end up in the sand,I have a few Baitrunners but prefer to use my old Daiwa's or Penns in the surf.....have you ever tried to get sand out of a baitrunner??:S cheers brenton
aldingabeachfisho 1
Daiwa windcast is what I'm running very happy with it
krustykrab 0
I use my penn slammer 760 liveliner(baitrunner).......love the reel, also dropped in the sand down at salt creek and rinsed it off ....no problems seems pretty tough and cost around 180-200 from memory
Shark_Fisho 1
Love my Saltiga Surf B) . The Spinfishers are bullet proof, probaly cast a bit better then the Offshores. Go for the spinfisher over the slammer....
