tonyb 1,017
I've followed this thread with great interest as I have been privy to a bombshell coming to these ponds very soon in the form of a mass poisoning and possible expiations for any one caught fishing in here in the future or introducing feral fish.Check out my "Freshwater Scene" Column in this issue of "Wild Coast" Magazine for more info. Woody 0
That'd suck, I enjoy it down there, so peaceful and pretty, especially as the sun drops....
spog777 1
looks like a silver perch thats had the crap kicked out of it
tonyb 1,017
Silvers do get those spots on them but the spiky looking anal fin makes me fancy it to be a BASS
TT 2
Yes definitely TonyB that could be a bass. Some pics may shed some light:
Kelvin 2,195
I don't think it is a bass. It lacks the deep fork caudal fin and lacks the distinct lateral line of bass.
Woody 0
Is there not someone here from PIRSA or something that can lay this to rest for us??? lol
brenton 637
There is only really 1 difference to the jade perch that i can see and that is the slope of the forehead, the one Jewie caught seems very rounded, the body shape is pretty spot on especially with the aquaculture fish in Kelvins pics. cheers brenton

Guest
Its definitely either a jade perch or silver perch.Based on the markings you'd have to think its a jade perch.
negruky 0
Its definitely a jade perch as kelvin said it is used in aquaponics and is also a species that can be kept in aquaria somehow it has made its way into this waterway and been living and feeding eventually it would die and as it is more than likely the only one or one of a few in the system it wouldnt be able to sustain a population due to the conditions in south australia not being favourable for reproduction.
