burlz 0 Posted June 26, 2008 Report Share Posted June 26, 2008 Well ive seen a few recipes for beer batter on the site so i thought id have a go .1 bottle of coopers sparkling ale 1 hand full of ice cubes 1 egg1 tea spoon of curry powder1 tea spoon of chilli powder 1 tea spoon of onion flakes1 tea spoon of saltcombine all of above in large mixing bowl , whisk until combined binding agent i use ANCHOR SPONGE CAKE self raising flour , its lighter pre sifted and produces a crispier thinner batter . add flower until u get a slighty thicker than pancake mix consistancy . allow ice cubes to melt completley , mix again then use while still ice cold ...........hope some of u give it a go ...burlz Quote Link to post Share on other sites

venkovich 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Share Posted June 30, 2008 BurlzWe tried your batter tonight with some West Coast Trevally fillets.We had to use Coopers Light as I don't like their Sparkling Ale so I didn't have any in the fridge, but......We thought the batter was excellent, thank you.My wife was particularly impressed with the Anchor SRF and is keen to try it again for coating KGW fillets with flour before dropping them in the fry pan.Now...
