afishyfish 4
Not to go againts you Ranger but this suggests they may be found around SA :huh:http://www.fishnet.com.au/default.aspx?id=225&fishid=31 I suspect that there are a lot more "odd" fsih in our waters at times than most people expect !It would be interesting to compile a list of fish that aren't "normally " found in our waters, but occassionally are red_devil94
Totes 48
thanks for the info guys, i thought this may have been the case.the reason i ask is, for a LB targeted species, these fish make crazy good sashimi.
Fishie 98
I heard there's some bonito mixed in with the SBT schools that are passing through at the moment. I've caught bonito before but my first preference apart from yellowfin would be southern or northern bluefin tuna
Del 245
good to see ya back again breambo and yeah.. ive heard of them as odd catches around the place but not a common fish!
withoutchips 0
occasionally they will jet in across the bight if the warm currents right from the bottom of WA, usually they end up in the warmer water of pt augusta and die in the shallows up there, trapped by the temp ....but
DR_JOSH 12
Yup just an odd accurance in or waters, like the dolphin fish caught last year and the leather back turtle which someone on here hooked
whyallabrad 0
Have seen oriental bonito at pt augusta power station, dolphin fish from there up but never anywhere else, the tua in the SBT schools off the west coast and last couple of years in better numbers have been striped tuna. The Oriental bonito are a SW WA species that have come around. Never heard of an australian bonito in SA or a watsons leaping bonito here either.......Northern spencer gulf has all sorts of oddballs, back when the oriental bonito (2 years running) were at port augusta it was not unusual to see individual SBT to 30kg punching around either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!An ex penn fishing tackle blokes mate from SA caught a green sea turtle on a squid up there too! Bit like last years small sunfish capture...very unusual!
