best way to fillet flathead

hi all need some advice about cutting up a flattie i caught todya in the boat never done one before so any advice will be apreciated not to bad a size 38cm will go down well crispy

Not really all that different to any other fish Crispy, in my experience anyway.You'll find nyou tend to end up with a long , roundish fillet, and theres a fair bit of meat right against the skull base too Good luck and of course watch those spikes :pinch:

google "filleting Flathead". I found a video of how to do it. Leaves a "Y" shaped fillet not 1 bone in it. Yum Yum

Hi guys poppa snake thats what i did but didnt quite turn out as good as what is on the video oh well still taste the same just not as pretty if you caught them all the time it would be a lot diffferent cheers guys crispy

Get someone else to do it is the best way Seriously though, easy as, just like any other fish. If you don't like filleting, cook the fish whole, less waste more taste.

once filleted , face fillet skin side down and run the knife along the skinonce youve done it, youll do it every timebrent
