SpiderPIG 8
I use 7 foot 2-4kg graphite paired with a 2000 size okuma flame with 200m of 6lb braid, 10lb leader. gettting them on light tackle in the surf is great great fun. Take waders if you have, or go in with shorts lol.
Cal 480
i use to use a 10ft rod' date=' 4000 reel and 8 lb braid..... cast 65g metals out a mile Sambo[/quote']Good advice,if the Salmon are a fair way out 7 footers dont cut it,great fun and all but if the fish are 70 metres + out having a fast actioned 10 footer will have you in the game.7 footers can only cast small lures, great for sts in close but 1 to 2 kilo salmon in a half decent surf the 10 footer will have you in the ball park. SpiderPIG 8
I Fish at waits with 7foot rod all the time. All the times i've been they are not more than 10-20 meters out. Never had a problem bagging out. But then again, each to his own. I like the fight of the fish
