Fishing Edithburgh

Despite the bad weather forecast we've decided to head over to Edithburgh next week and was hoping to wet a line. I was wondering if anybody knows and good fishing spots they wouldn't mind telling or what we possibly could catch during our stay?Cheers.

As well as the already mentioned, some KGW have been caught there in dreadful weather during winter. A few red mullet can often be caught there as well.

ok cool, we cleaned up the whiting in the boat in the shallows(up to 50 cm )heaps of good size squid around, if ya keen there are quite a few good whiting of the jetty just fish light and burly lightly between the two sheds I like.

Don't forget about a short drive to Port Giles Jetty. It's not always open but when it is, it's worth a try, mostly Tommies, squid. Tommies down there will bite on just about anything.

These are landbased locations. There is a spot past the windfarms and near the lighthouse that we found is awesome for salmon.Not sure of the name of it, but I think it is called Suicide Point????About a half hour drive on the dirt road round the peninsular you will find a beach that you can scope from the cliff tops. There is a set of wooden stairs leading down to the beach.You can clearly see the salmon schools from up on the cliffs.Nearby to there are some rock ledges that are great fishing, take extreme care when climbing out on the rocks. We have landed small snapper and occasional squid.The Edithburgh town jetty is good for squid and tommies, just be aware that SCUBA divers frequent this jetty at times. Say hello to them and they may share all the snagged lures they find down under the jetty.Check out the local tackle store in Edithburgh, a really top bloke who will be more than happy to give you directions and to tell you what's biting where.Good luck, and I hope this helps.Steve

there is a rock ledge next to the old swimming pool you can walk down onto fairly easily that prouduces good whiting and squid regulary this time of year,cematery rocks worth a look 2
