Dan C 1
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-07-29/divers-find-shark-strung-up/4850334?pfm=msI seriously don't understand some people. I guess we don't know the full story but this looks pretty barbaric.
Del 245
read that... i just cant work out what sort of people could ever do this.
Boyington214 0
It certainly is barbaric. Why anyone would actually want to do this let alone go through with it is beyond me.Another thing I don't like is the fact that Dr David Powter said the most likely cause is Rec or game fishers. Why couldn't it be a pro fisher, sick of having his catches taken by sharks? Or sick ass divers? snapper15.4kg
brenton 637
Doesn't look right to me,probably incompetance trying to tail rope it and it got away and tangled itself on the bouy or divers because you couldn't lift the bouy to tie it there from a boat. cheers brenton Chief and Cal
fished out 0
I just can't imagine some body diving down and tying a thrashing Mako shark to a bouy? Even thinking "Yeah I could get Jaws' cousin bound and drowned without hassle" is ludicrous. I think a failed tail rope attempt could be the culprit to brenton. Tinker 1,645
Unfortunately us recreational fishos will most likely cop the blame and fire the greenies up even more in regards Marine Parks and No Take Zones.Real shame if it was reccies and it was an accident. Guest
The shark could've also just accidentally got tangled around the buoy rope.Speak to cray fishermen and this happens occasionally. It's not fair to accuse anglers without knowing the full facts.Unfortunately the media and the green movement like to sensationalize these types of incidents in order to further their own causes.or if it was indeed an angler that did this why do they have to stereotype all anglers? Lexi 14
Could also be a Greenie trying to cause trouble.....Anyone can play the name game. snapper15.4kg
kon 300
Aah, Lexi, beat me to it...A fair way down for non-diving recfishers to be responsible. It was supposedly tied to the buoy rope?A "false flag" effort not inconceivable - hey, here`s a dead shark, what can we do with this...? Cutting off the fins would target the obvious minority there, but if we leave it pretty well intact that opens up the horizons, etc...a couple of hours later...hey world, look what we came across!!!The location is interesting too. Now, the bolded bits piqued my interest;"Dr David Powter, a senior environmental science lecturer at Newcastle University's Ourimbah campus, says it appears to be a deliberate act of cruelty."http://www.redmap.org.au/my-redmap/view/david.powter@newcastle.edu.au/Just an idle google, of course, nothing inferred...oh yeah, I also googled "Robbert Westerdyk marine", and this came up on the first page;http://www.visitcentralcoast.com.au/activities/diving/ex-hmas-adelaide-reserveRead the "NSW Crown Lands Division" greyed bit.Once again, nothing inferred... archerfish and rsk
