tonyb 1,017
Recfish SA and SAFWAA have just got agreement in principle to open this dam for recreational fishing provisionally on the pending 3 month consultation with local residents. The position is very positive at the moment tho' the issue of stocking with Natives is still being resolved.Redfin, Carp, Tench, Callop are some of the known residents, however this dam suffers regular winter blackwater events which decimates stocks? tonyb 1,017
Tony' date='When was wynn vale dam ever closed to rec fishing?TB[/quote']Hi TB,Every single Council and Government agency in the entire State, including DEWNR and SA Water have maintained a steadfast denial of any official FRESHWATER recreational fishing in any of their waters since their inception, primarily because of Public Liability matters, some of them as serious as the woman who was found drowned in Thorndon Park and some reasons as trivial as a fear of water resources being poisoned.RFSA (with my help) has compiled a list of nearly 50 possible recreational fishing waters in the State and to only crack the door open slightly, after 3 years of continuous effort, on just one local Council, gives you a rough idea how desperate our State is to legally enjoy these waters, owned by the people by Birthright, but denied access to by an un-educated Government? Bring on the Brave New World that our Interstate neighbors have enjoyed forever! Moreover, RFSA has had a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SA Water now for over three years to give access to four OFF-LINE Reservoirs one of which is the TOD Reservoir over in Port Lincoln and they are still sitting on a decision!!!Cheers, tonyb. Cal 480
Best off not making any noise about it, we can happily fish the dam,if we arc up too much some council banana may try and justify his/her job and get no fishing signs put up.We are best off doing our thing under the radar. tonyb 1,017
I can't agree with you this time Cal, for far too long we have taken this crap, time to stand up for our rights although it is a painfully long and drawn out process. As said, we do have Tea Tree Gully Council's agreement even tho' you are technically only supposed to fish here with a Council permit (see the link I posted on this page)And TB, unfortunately, because we have traditionally fished here for many years does not in any way make it legal mate? Public Liability are two of the worst words in any recreational activity nowadays and don't the Lawyers luv it? Tacklebags

Caleb Bond 0
Does anyone know how one can get one of these permits and how much they cost? I'm going to fish it for the first time this Sunday, but I see dozens of people there fishing all the time and I can't imagine they all have permits.
