Benwah 92
Hey all I'm looking for a spin rod 6'6" - 7ft., will be using a Stradic FJ 4000 with 15lb. Super PE. Hope to use it for bait fishing for inshore Snapper & casting metals & poppers for Salmon etc. in the boat. I'm after an 6-8kg. rod with a cast weight of 10-50g., most of the rods in that class I've seen cast up to 1oz. tops. Am I asking too much of the one rod ? The 6-10kg. rods seem a bit heavy, but they may be the only answer. My other option would be a light jigging rod, but not keen on the slow tapers. Any feedback on these rods ? http://www.gloomis.com/publish/content/gloomis_2010/us/en/conventional/rods/classic_saltwater/live_bait.html Nabura 67s http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shimano-reels-australia/rods-reels/daiwa/daiwa-rods/daiwa-rods-catalina-series-now-only-249/ Budget is $250, any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
storm boy 17
One that comes to mind is the Raider Snapper 7' 3" 2 piece. Good for snapper and would also be good for casting metals etc at salmon. It's a good rod and is also well within your budget. Cheers! SB
Benwah 92
Cool. They're the type of suggestions I'm after. Will check em out.
storm boy 17
Just double checked, the one I have is actually the 7'6" 2 piece, lure rating is 15-45g. Regards, SB
ShoreJigger 171
Have a look at these http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/products_id/14953/cPath/21_38_51_2431_1960/saltwater-fishing.html The 70ml seems to sound on the money from your specs. Ale 301
I don't know the ins and out of actions etc. But I do own the older Nabura 67, matched perfectly to a Certate 3000, 20LB braid. Its my local Snapper rod, mainly bait, no worries with smallish baits and 4oz's. Handled fish to 9kg nicely and great fun. Also dropped plastics on top of a school of 10-12kg BFT, again, great fun, and a challenge, did get busted off a few times tho Salmon to 4kg throwing slugs at a school from the boat aswell. Id say a 4000 FJ would be a bit heavy on it tho. Did I say I love it? Kuerschie
Benwah 92
They look good SJ thanks. I'll have to go in & have a look @ the Nabura's Ale, they look the best locally. I had a look at the specs & the Stradic is 16grams. heavier than the Certate so should be alright. Thanks. Would love a Nitro Viper but they're outside my preferred range. Most reviews reckon they're top notch, any feedback ? (Could possibly stretch the budget if they're that much better) http://www.innovatorrods.com/nitro-viper.html Anyone used one of the Daiwa Blast Rods ? http://daiwafishing.com.au/blast-rods/
Piranha 76
I have a t curve tournament snapper 2.13m 1 piece 5-8kg cast weight 10-30g but has no issues throwing up to 60g slugs/poppers.

Nikhum 16
Saltiga Dorado 70s if you can still find one. Or the new 2010 All rounder 71s. I think thats what you looking for. Iv'e got the original Dorado 70s and it's my fav Saltiga, very versatile rod and beautiful action, very comfy and super light.
Benwah 92
I ended up buying a Catalina Nabura 67S this morning. Balances perfectly with the Stradic 4000, can't wait to load it up. Thanks everyone for your help. ($1 under budget too) Ale
ShoreJigger 171
Good choice mate, love my Daiwa rods. Their rods are definitely a class above Shimano's in my opinion.
Benwah 92
Loaded it up today on a big ray. Ended up locking up the drag & snapping the 20lb. leader. Now to hook something that shakes it's head !
