AquaticResearch1 1,046
Wondering if anybody has seen or used these? Saw some in BCF this arvo and they look the goods. Apparently made from a 3D image of an Juvenile crab, good colour range, come either pre rigged or with loose with the option to buy specialist jig heads. Rears up on the bottom, can be fished with a normal jighead. May be a cheaper replacement to the Cranka Crabs. Tinker
Underpants 1,543
Seen them and they certainly look pretty. Never used any. Actually many of those Savage Gear lures look pretty . The unique difference with the CCs is the claw action & trebles in the claws, as opposed to a SP style option.
Fishingmad 306
Meh, heard they arent overly great and you will never beat the crankas or marukyus
keenfisho 1,416
I've been persisting with a pack but they are not impressing me. No real action. I havnt had a hit on them yet. I've changes from them to other sps and hooked up straight away. I probably wont buy another pack
Tinker 1,645
Just like the Bait Breath scented crabs, very average results. SP crabs just don't produce for me. Cranka Crabs are the bomb, and new stocks have just arrived in most stores. Worth investing in.

Did look the goods in the promo shots but never actually seen them. The Isomes are certainly pretty good. Whereabouts can you get them? Fishingmad

There's a few on EBAY, I might get some, have got some Isome worms to try
AquaticResearch1 1,046
Savage Gear Crabs are not on the list to get. Do you blokes not sketch out chucking Cranka Crabs around heavy structure or in big mully areas? Has anybody taken something sizeable on the crabs? How'd the hooks go? Compleat Angler Moonta & Wallaroo have them, not that close but can always check with them on postage Cheers Yorky

Fishingmad 306
Victor turn off on south road, may or may not have been my idea for him to get them in.... Also has the dragon jigheads to go with them
AquaticResearch1 1,046
I'm calling out these Cranka Crabs. Nobody on this forum has caught anything on them. I can guarantee no one can post a picture of a fish caught on an cranka crab or marukyu! *insert stirring the pot icon here* Tinker

Go to the bottom, click more return options and it should expand the reply box and have an 'add attachments' button. Then just add the photo file and then it'll add it to your reply. Tinker 1,645
I'm calling out these Cranka Crabs. Nobody on this forum has caught anything on them. I can guarantee no one can post a picture of a fish caught on an cranka crab or marukyu! *insert stirring the pot icon here* Nah, you are absolutely right mate. Cranka Crabs are for try-hards. And for 20 bucks each, they are the biggest waste of money you will ever encounter. I gave all mine to some Hare Krishnas who were happy catching puffer fish and trumpeters which is all I have caught on them, and they gave me a tambourine to help sing to the fish which works substantially better on your catch rate than CCs. Learnt quite a lot today.......
AquaticResearch1 1,046
That's damn insulting tinker. Puffers aren't dumb enough to eat one of these cranka craps. Be better off fastening seagull hooks to a bent nail. On a serious note, well kind of serious, has anyone caught a snapper or decent mully on these things? Or hooked a decent snag? Just test out the overall strength of the lure and trebles. I think there owner ST 14's,are they any good at taking a bit of pressure? Too bad the cranka craps don't catch fish, otherwise we could test the hooks. Tinker
keenfisho 1,416
I have only used them once as I was given one to test and all I know is second cast I had a bump, third cast zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz head shakes more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz watching line disappear then me swearing my head of as I had an empty spool on my 1000 stradic. My guess where I was fishing, the big head shake and tail thumps i donated that cranka crab to a very good mully. Tinker and AquaticResearch1
AquaticResearch1 1,046
How much pressure do you think you put on keeno? Anybody with other experiences with cranka crabs? So far we have one hooked fish, albeit a good one.
keenfisho 1,416
Had about 3/4 of my drag tightened and I was empty within about 30 secs. I've caught schoolies around mid 70cm on the same combo, this fish was a different league. Was a fu. 30 secs though
keenfisho 1,416
I will be getting some more once the breambos fire up a bit, only problem is I think where I'm planning on throwing them it could get expensive.
Barramundi 0
Obviously none of you know how to finesse fish I would suggest you are working these crab imitations too fast. A slow drag along the bottom aa pause a very subtle hope and a slow drag again, I catch plenty of fish on these great crab lures, learn to fish a lure before criticising it. Welcome to the forum barramundi, great first post on a topic from nearly 4 years ago I still don’t rate the savage gear crabs, I have caught many bream and mullies in many different crab lures and plastic just don’t rate the savage gear crabs near many others, other savage lures are great
