Busterboy 15
What would you chaps recommend for Yellowfin Whiting? I want to try the San Juan worm this year. Any other flies I should be using?
AquaticResearch1 1,046
I'm not a fly fisherman myself but those crazy Charlie flies look like they'd get a few Gold bars TheBerg and Busterboy
southie THE BANGA 2,304
Match the hatch..... Shrimp patterns, crabs, worm all would work well on YFW... Here are a few examples to what i mean..... If they are surface chasing then small fly poppers work well too.... http://www.troutflies.com.au/store/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=8 That is the site I get my flies from... I havent caught any on fly yet myself but had a few follows late in the season last year. Will be hitting them hard this summer on fly though.
TheBerg 241
All those would work. The smaller the better I find.

They look killer for the flats Troutflies is a pretty good web site in terms of selection. You can get a lot of good flies that you'll probably never use haha. However, I find their stuff sort of falls apart after a day or two fishing. Usually the beads are only hotglued with a tiny dab etc. Fisherman's Paradise has a good quality selection of salt flies. Store is on the tail end of Gouger street. Worth a look. southie THE BANGA
southie THE BANGA 2,304
Agreed Fishermans Paradise is a good shop for good quality flies.... They are a bit more $$$ but the quality is amazing. TheBerg
TheBerg 241
I would love to tie my own but it becomes a bit hard to get around to and such. Materials and all that are not all that cheap either. Whenever I'm back home I load up on flies from Cabela's or Bass Pro shop, but really that is not all that cheap either. hahaha Consequently, I have been know to duck my head under the water and dislodge a fly or two from a log or rock jam haha.
