no_idea 48
Off topic but I stayed down at cockburn last year for 2 weeks and had to get around via taxi. First day when I wanted to get back to cockburn, I pronounced it how I read it and the taxi driver (who I found later out was a cockburn local) wasn't to happy with me. Apparently it's pronounced Co-burn. Lol. bjorn2fish and Tinker

archerfish 685
Nice to see the WA Fisheries Minister is across it: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-04/fisheries-minister-contradicts-own-department-on-fish-kill/7003916 Cheers af
Brankim 945
Dunno why he calls it a disease when they say a natural yet Unknown event.... IMO, contamination is the only possible cause. The penguins and Pelicans would only be effected from eating contaminated fish? And for their tests not to have found anything... To me, is clearly saying that they were fully aware of the risks, possible outcomes, but won't ever admit that they pushed the profit margins alittle too far, and are now trying to cover their own arses. But, thats just my opinion... Tinker
archerfish 685
...and so the story continues: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-07/cockburn-sound-water-quality-improved-government-insists/7008154 Cheers af

Tinker 1,645
Been hearing stories about how they are blaming this canola spill......which was apparently immediately cleaned up. Isn't canola supposed to be good for us? Not fish or penguins but???
archerfish 685
It seems there may be some more fun happening further south as well: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-08/funding-to-prevent-further-south-west-fish-kills-vasse/7012128 Cheers af Tinker
Tinker 1,645
Regular mass fish kills.....not good. The recreational fishing sector in WA would be getting pretty pissed off by now. And how many had caught and consumed affected fish? I see a shitstorm coming over there soon.
Brankim 945
yeah.... low oxygen.... that must be what killed the pelicans and penguins.... or that algae irritating their gills... birds also have gills. and breethe underwater?! what a joke Tinker
