portluck 117
G'day, With an abundant amount of crabs around at the moment, I was wondering if anyone has a nice and easy recipe for crab cakes that they'd be willing to share? I did have a search through the forum but couldn't see one. Maybe I've missed it though. Thanks
Underpants 1,543
Not exactly but id go along the lines of fish cakes. In real simple terms: drain & flake the meat mix in a bowl with whatever flavorings you like bind with egg & breadcrumbs. roll into desired sized balls, flatten a little & roll in breadcrumbs. Deepfry ......shalllow fry if you must . Some further ideas: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/17143/thai+style+fish+cakes As im assuming the crab meat is cooked, it will likely require a little more egg/breadcrumbs for binding. So something like: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/6771/fish+cakes I dont like the idea of that much potato tho, i recon 1:4 rather than 1:1, potato:crab would be better. Plus i'd probably lean towards the more Asian spice flavorings, personal taste there. How about Crab Linguine, kinda like Marinara but with that sweet crab meat? http://sanremo.com.au/san-remo-recipes/blue-swimmer-crab-and-chilli-linguine/#.Vs_z2OZ6kaE Id be adding a cup of dry white wine (and reducing) to that one too. bjorn2fish and Family guy
portluck 117
Thanks for that, I think I'd go for the Asian flavours as well. I'll have a muck around with your tips, and what's in the cupboard, and see what I come up with. Cheers
