As a backup we are having a few options for the last runner up prize which relies heavily on the members reports. These include the worst trip, best by-catch, most kms traveled and the most trips all chasing salmon.

This comp is dependent on good salmon reports from members who would like to take part so please get as much information in your reports, try to take some nice clear photos and get right into the Strike Hook spirit and get as many fishos as we can chasing salmon for the comp.

The comp ends on August 31st 2016 and is open to anyone and everyone in South Australia!

Good luck everyone  (y)

The long awaited announcement of the Strike Hook / Spotters Salmon comp winners. Probably very frustrating for those in the running for a prize, my apologies.   We had to have a good hard think abou

This is great but is there a location ? and / or is it just photos ? What about boat owners as some of us can not navigate stairs or beaches. Is this on a set date ? It seems it just from post which is far enough.

Well done SPOTTERS and all the best to those that compete. :)

Woops, forgot the end date. The comps starts now and ends August 31st 2016. I'll edit above ;)

As previous comps, this is open to everyone, everywhere in SA, boat or land based.

We need to see a report as mentioned with the details of your catch, measurements would be a good idea if you are aiming for the major prize.

Doh, i'm just reading this after picking up 2 of the biggest ive caught in years, only yesterday. Got some nice pics, no official measure as we let them all go, calling 55+cm tho!

Unlucky on not reading this first mate

I'm guessing usual area?

If so that's a great sign for the season.

Nah Yorkes over the WE, Corny Pt area: Berry Bay & beach directly south of Pt Annie. Will get to a bit of a report some stage.

Will let you know when i'm thinking bout hitting our 'usual', gonna struggle for a leave pass for a while tho!

Was over on Kangaroo Island recently to visit friends that were staying in D'Estress Bay. Quick session on a beach along D'Estrees Bay using cockles. Caught these salmon which was perfect for dinner.

Unfortunately did not measure, but around the 30cm or so mark or dinner plate size when cleaned. Very tasty when fresh. Just put straight on the barby after filleting & skinning with no salt or spices. (They were bled when caught).

Anyone get into any salmon action over the weekend?

Had a go at Maslins Sunday arvo, lots of walking and casting and not a touch. :(

Very happy with my new lure bag setup though, a Daiwa Trout Bag with my own customised lure storage system! B)

There's a good winter post, do tell regarding the bag and custom lure storage. Pics would be good

Hi Guys

Ive been giving the Hobie a work out again and thought that seeing I have stumbled onto a spot with a few decent salmon around I would show you another one that I just caught on my latest trip. I have been getting one or two every trip and in a creek they are one feisty fish and watching them tail walk with their gills flared only metres from you is the best thing to see, I absolutely love it :)

I have been getting them on both soft plastic and un-weighted pillies with a few snapper up to 51cms as a bonus. The salmon I just caught fell to a pillie and kept me busy for nearly 10 minutes it just wasnt going to give up and several times I thought I had him beat only for him to charge off again. The fish went 65cms and I am yet to get one under 60cms.

I can see me getting a go-pro so I can capture some footage while I am fishing as my phone is to hard to use while you are attached to one of these beauties :)
