Underpants 1,543 Report post Posted March 2 As per title...has anyone used the FG Wizz an aussie made FG knot tying tool? https://www.fgwizz.com.au I stumbled upon it online whist looking for a cheaper version of the Knot Assist 2.0. It looks to be elegantly simple and i like the way it leaves both hands free. 1 Cal reacted to this

Softy 1,789 Report post Posted March 2 Improved albright is all I used.. from 4lb up to 50lb
Kelvin 1,382 Report post Posted March 2 Similar technique but just leave the reel on the rod with 2kg of drag and tie the braid to the first guide. Rizzuto finish rather than half hitches, 2 Underpants and dmck reacted to this
IamDangerous 32 Report post Posted March 2 It certainly looks the goods but at its price I doubt it is worth it. Kelvin's idea certainly seems worth trying and costs nothing, it could be just as good.
MIKECATTS 529 Report post Posted March 2 I use the Knot Assist 2.0.. Works really well... Cost $45 from japan.... I know you can do it by hand.. But the knot assist makes life easier.. It holds my 6lb brad well.. 1 keenfisho reacted to this

Rizzuto finish rather than half hitches, Cheers K. Will definitely be giving that one a crack. Sick of nearly cutting my fingers with 4lb braid! SurfcaztR 338 Report post Posted March 2 When i was searching for making a FG knot easy i came across this video, ordered one and have been very pleased with the finished result..FG Knotter
SurfcaztR 338 Report post Posted March 2 One more same thing, what i wanted was a small knot that comes up to the baitcaster and will pass through those smaller rod guides with minimal resistance. The knot will pass through 8/9 guides on every cast and may run 200-400 casts in a day throwing various lures. You can buy the bobbins (ebay) for $33 delivered. 1 Plectropomus reacted to this
Kelvin 1,382 Report post Posted March 3 Similar to this. No tools needed. I use a lot more tension than the video. Also Rizzuto finish is far superior to half hitches. Need to pretension after. I just use some wooden dowel or pvc pipe. 1 Underpants reacted to this
AquaticResearch1 921 Report post Posted March 3 The rizzuto finish is my downfall when it comes to the fg. In saying that, I'll only use the fg if I'm using heavy gear or casting heavy, long leaders through the guides. Most forms of fishing a well tied Albright will suffice. Bladesg 41 Report post Posted March 3 I put the braid between my teeth... easy Anything below 12-14lb leaders I use improved albright

Are you finishing the FG wraps first with some half hitches and then tying he Rissuto to finish it all off? The finished knot in the vid looks to have 1/2 doz half hitches in there too.... dmck 459 Report post Posted March 3 OK... I looked it up. I'm not sure its a tight knot because it pulls back towards the FG knot. I prefer a version of the hook snooze.
Kelvin 1,382 Report post Posted March 3 I do a single hitch to stop slipping and then a Rizzuto finish. The Rizutto locks in very tight if pre-tightened and will not slip. 1 1 Underpants and AquaticResearch1 reacted to this

I use this fg knot method But may use the Rissuto finish from Kelvin's posted video, as I can follow it a bit better it seems. Shall test.
IamDangerous 32 Report post Posted March 4 I have used those red or blue sinker clips for running rigs to test knots, perhaps they could be used to tension these knots in lighter lines.
SurfcaztR 338 Report post Posted March 4 PR knot is so tight you don't have to tension or burn anything, quick and simple.
