Simple rig for Coorong Mulloway in boat

Heading to coorong next weekend for first try in a boat. What rig should I use? Assuming the mulloway will be smallish but legal size.

Will be using Pilchards I guess. No time for live bait. May give plastics a try but I'm a newby - so advice welcome.

Ezyrig running on main line, rolling swivel with or without clip pending your preference. 1 foot approx sinker dropper a bit lighter than your main line (sacraficial), 3 foot approx trace with a 4/0 circle or 2 snooded on 40-60lb fluro, maybe a glowbead if your into that (I love em, pretty). For the lure trace of about a metre of 20-40lb fluro attached however you like should do the job.

I fished the Coorong coupla weeks back and mullies were readily taking 3-4 inch plastics on a 1/4th jig head. could fish a lighter jig but that was all i had that suited the size of the plastic. Ended up with 9 in about 4 hrs ranging from 30-65 cm

Cheers MrFish! I'd like to give plastics a go - I will have a look at what I have and get back to you (wifey buys me random stuff for gifts cos it looks pretty) . Can you be specific about the brand/model you used? Maybe I already have something similar. You meant 1/4 ounce jig heads?

not sure the exact plastic but they were paddle tail squidgies, black and gold or pilchard doing the damage (pretty similar to pics attached)

Yep, that's pretty much it. No need for a shock leader, that's more for surf casting. Ezyrig just does the job of the running swivel in the pic. I used running swivels myself previously but found the ezyrigs kinder on your connecting knot and mainline. I also found i got least tangles with a 3:1 trace to dropper ratio and prefer the lengths i mentioned earlier, circle hooks are another personal choice but I'm telling you once you get the hang of them you wont go back.
