benny 1
heres a silver perch I got a few years ago, caught on bread, while fishing for carp in an urban pond... fish measured 53cms (picture doesnt do it much justice)and was released in good condition. It put up an OK fight on 6lb, but it fought a bit sluggish.
Steve-Bream-Fishing 4
Here is mine, caught during the first Callop Classic at Cobdogla in '07. I think it was about 40cm or close to it and it absolutely smashed the Marz Cod Raider lure I was using. Meppstas
benny 1
40 cms is pretty big in the murray, got 19 silver perch in a session there once, but none were of decent size. I read somewhere that they tend to go pretty big in the dams for some reason??
Mr_Willy 3
My biggest - 45cm and almost 2kg from Walker FlatHad a mate pull one at 54cm from just around the Corner too.... I still haven't seen the photo of it.... but when he called me he was more excited than when he called me to tell me about his first cod, so no doubt in my mind..... can't wait to see the photo! Shark_Fisho 1
Ive caught a fair few Silver Perch on Tiger worms with a running rig and they fight terrific, sit ur rod in a rod holder with the drag loose it and scresms like hell wen they take it
Mr_Willy 3
Fought pretty well - smashed the lure very hard and took off - I thought the first one was a Cod - this was the second one for the day and I knew what it was as soon as it hit. After its first hit and run and it was much a Callop fight - head shakes and a few lunges.... Murrayfisher2 0
I have seen silvers caught up to 7lbs 50cm plus and pull like freight trains great fun on lite gear even the small ones dont seam to wont to give up the fight
benny 1
Agree with the small ones fighting good, geez they even fight better than bream! I suppose mine fought shit cus it was in a pond, and the old fish wouldnt have even had to contend with currents or anything.

mrfish 327
caught a couple around the 50cm mark. They fought really hard. great fish to catch. That is an absolute monster Jack Kee
Tinker 1,645
Yeah I still believe that both saltwater southern black bream and freshwater silver perch are both equal in the power to weight ratio when it comes to the fight. And silver perch is one of the most gorgeous looking fish you can catch in the Murray or other places you might find them.Anybody else got a deep cut from the gill rakers when caught unawares?Handle with care.Sent from my SM-J120ZN using Tapatalk Meppstas and doobie
