Largest Silver Perch

Recommended Posts

heres a silver perch I got a few years ago, caught on bread, while fishing for carp in an urban pond... fish measured 53cms (picture doesnt do it much justice)and was released in good condition. It put up an OK fight on 6lb, but it fought a bit sluggish. Posted Image

40 cms is pretty big in the murray, got 19 silver perch in a session there once, but none were of decent size. I read somewhere that they tend to go pretty big in the dams for some reason??

My biggest - 45cm and almost 2kg from Walker FlatPosted ImageHad a mate pull one at 54cm from just around the Corner too.... I still haven't seen the photo of it.... but when he called me he was more excited than when he called me to tell me about his first cod, so no doubt in my mind..... can't wait to see the photo!

Fought pretty well - smashed the lure very hard and took off - I thought the first one was a Cod - this was the second one for the day and I knew what it was as soon as it hit. After its first hit and run and it was much a Callop fight - head shakes and a few lunges....

Agree with the small ones fighting good, geez they even fight better than bream! I suppose mine fought shit cus it was in a pond, and the old fish wouldnt have even had to contend with currents or anything.
